Responsibilities

  • Analyze and update systems for accurate production costs and variances
  • Perform costing of purchased parts and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end closing by making journal entries and adjustments
  • Review account details and follow up on outstanding month-end items
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on various financial metrics
  • Execute standard cost roll at year-end for accurate updates
  • Coordinate inventory balances and monitoring programs

As a Senior Cost Accountant your goal is to support cost accounting, inventory controls and other accounting functions by working closely with the finance team and operations leadership. You'll do this by preparing and creating journal entries and reports with month-end closing, costing, daily operations, and other financial analysis.

You'll formulate and administer approved accounting practices throughout the organization (Turf Business Unit in support of Ferris brand) to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations within the business unit. #LI-MD1 #LI-Onsite

You will do this by:
  • Analyzing and updating system to ensure accurate production cost, inventory and labor variances throughout the month
  • Performing costing of purchased parts, service parts and resolves AP discrepancies
  • Assisting with month-end closing by calculating accruals, booking journal entries, reclasses and other system adjustments
  • Reviewing account details and following-up on month-end closing items when necessary
  • Preparing reports daily, weekly and monthly which may include but not be limited to production cost, inventory, spend and other metrics
  • Performing standard cost roll at year-end to ensure standards are accurately updated
  • Coordinating review of inventory balances and inventory monitoring programs
  • Working with functional managers throughout the company to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and offer recommendations for improvement

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field OR equivalent experience and education
  • Minimum of five years of related Accounting/Finance experience
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Cost accounting experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of analysis techniques that assist in report preparation for decision-making purposes
  • Thorough understanding of general accounting functions as well as cost accounting and standard cost setting
  • Advanced organization skills necessary to manage multiple assignments and priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills for interface and communicate with diverse groups
  • Desire to grow into a leadership role
  • Strong computer literacy, especially experience with financial software systems
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location


NY State Compensation:
  • For this position, the expected base annual salary range is $70,000 to $100,000 USD commensurate with experience. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.
