Purpose

As a Senior Piping Engineer at Worley, you will play a key technical role in delivering high-quality piping engineering solutions across a range of energy, resources, and industrial projects. You will contribute to the safe, efficient, and compliant design and execution of piping systems, while providing technical guidance to junior engineers and designers and supporting multi-disciplinary project teams.

The Senior Piping Engineer role is suited to an experienced piping engineer who can work independently on complex scopes, contribute to discipline leadership on projects, and support the continued technical development of the piping function within Worley.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Delivery
  • Deliver piping engineering services in accordance with Worley, customer, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
  • Develop and review piping design deliverables including:
    • Specifications, data sheets, material take-offs, calculations, and technical reports
    • Piping layouts, isometrics, line lists, and tie-in schedules
  • Participate in and contribute to technical studies, design reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, and constructability reviews.
  • Apply sound engineering judgement to resolve complex piping design challenges and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Project Execution & Interface
  • Support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, including:
    • Preparation of material requisitions and technical bid evaluations
    • Vendor data review and technical clarifications
    • Responding to RFIs and supporting site queries
  • Prepare and manage piping deliverables across all project phases (concept, FEED, detailed design, and execution).
  • Assist with the development of proposals, estimates, work plans, schedules, and resource forecasts.
  • Identify, document, and support management of scope changes, risks, and technical issues.

Collaboration & Leadership
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior piping engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (process, mechanical, structural, electrical, I&C, and project management) to ensure integrated and constructible designs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • When required, act as Piping Discipline Lead for small to medium-sized projects or defined scopes within larger projects.

Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of piping engineering standards, codes, technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of piping design standards, tools, and work processes within Worley.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and technical excellence.


Qualifications - What You Will Bring

Technical & Industry Experience
  • Significant and relevant piping engineering experience in energy, chemicals, mining, or industrial projects.
  • Strong technical capability in piping system design and engineering, with the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work independently.
  • Working knowledge of piping design fundamentals and interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, including:
    • ABSA requirements for piping design and registration
    • ASME / ASTM piping and materials standards
    • CSA pipeline standards (asset)
  • Experience supporting EPC / EPCM projects across multiple project phases (concept through execution).
  • Familiarity with piping stress analysis (asset).
  • Experience as a discipline lead or technical focal point on small to medium-sized projects (asset).
  • Proficiency with piping engineering and design tools, along with standard engineering software (e.g., MS Office).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Sound judgement, problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach to technical challenges.

Education, Accreditation & Eligibility

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or permanent resident).
