Full Job Description
Opero Energy is currently seeking a Senior Piping Designer to join our team in our Houston, TX Fabrication Office. The Senior Piping Designer will perform assignments associated with designing modular oil & gas processing skids, mechanical equipment, structural steel layout and working on fabrication deliverables such as Isometric spools, Piping Plans & Elevations, Plot Plans, General Arrangements, Transportation Plans, Vessel fabrication details, P&ID's/PFD's and Junction Box drawings.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Comply with all company and client health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) standards as well as federal and local HSSE regulations.
  • Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or incidents to your supervisor.
  • Understanding of what is required to shop fabricate or field construct the project, knowing how components go together and in what order is essential.
  • Initiate drawings following instructions of engineer, designer, supervisor, specifications and/or sketches.
  • Prepare complete design packages which may include, but not be limited to, preliminary, conceptual and construction deliverables as well as engineering calculations.
  • Assist with stress analysis, compiling construction specifications, equipment and material procurement, calculations, and estimates.
  • Prepare parts lists, procurement lists, bills of material (BOM) and specifications when drawings are complete.
  • Implement revisions and change control per company standards at the direction of engineers.
  • Confirm specification and code compliance, equipment compatibility, and optimal cost savings.
  • Assist with performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various design solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy of completed drawings before final release and verify drawings meet company and industry standards
  • Continually look for product improvements and cost reductions.
  • Determine and initiate drawings/models based on optimal views relative to communicating construction desires as applicable.
  • Assist with performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various design solutions.
  • Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve them.
  • Utilize 2D or 3D computer aided design software to create layouts of Piping systems, devices and components, and create fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Maintain proper file management in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Project tracking is essential, keeping up with a pipe spool tracker and drawing register throughout the project life cycle is needed for project success.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's Degree from a Technical Institution preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience required.
  • Isogen software experience is required.
  • Current AutoCAD software experience required.
  • Current CADWorx suite of software or AutoCAD Plant 3D software experience required, CADWorx Structure is a plus.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions is required.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is required.
  • Ability to read process flow diagrams and process & instrumentation diagrams is required.
  • Microsoft Office software experience required.
  • Field experience/fabrication shop experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams & Process Flow Diagrams is required.
  • Strong piping knowledge of materials for piping construction is required.
  • Experience with drafting isometrics, general arrangements, vessel fabrication drawings, plot plans, piping plans and required.
  • Being able to work with and manage a team of designers is required.
  • Previous experience with equipment layout and piping design of process skids is required.
  • Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problems.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessary.
  • Ability to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.
  • Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.
  • Ability to read and understand drawing markups to determine drafting requirements.
  • Ability to utilize conventional drafting tools and CAD software to execute drafting requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Knowledge of CADWorx Spec Editor is a plus.
