Position: Senior Underground GeologistThe Senior Underground Geologist will bring a strong production, ore and grade control, and reconciliation background to our team's exciting growth plans, including an aggressive underground and surface exploration program to delineate and expand underground mineral resources and build production. This role supports a proactive safety culture through active engagement in safety initiatives and interactions. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and training mine geologists in core logging, sampling, mapping, ore and grade control, lead underground drill programs, and work closely with exploration, engineering, operations, administration, other technical staff, and management to develop and update weekly, monthly, 3-month rolling, annual, and life of mine plans. There will be a deliberate focus on growing inventory through defining and testing robust exploration targets in the near-mine environment. The Senior Underground Mine Geologist will align with the organization's long-term strategy for its projects and mines while adhering to industry regulations and company health, safety, and environmental standards.
Location: Granite Creek Mine, Golconda, Nevada
Responsibilities:- Ensure all safety procedures and regulatory guidelines are always followed.
- Active leadership and participation in safety meetings, interactions and inspections.
- Leading and training members of the geology group on underground sampling, mapping, material routing, core logging and reporting.
- Ensure that geological, geotechnical, and defined metallurgical information is collected from diamond drill, reverse circulation, and active mining levels.
- Design of core and RC drilling programs, track and report daily drilling data.
- Compile and validate drilling data, including assay results, downhole survey, geological logging and QAQC.
- Generate Ore Projections for mining levels and grade forecast for engineering.
- Responsible for Monthly Reconciliation and Mine to Mill Reconciliation.
- Track stockpiles grade, tonnage, sulfide content and ensure compliance with Ore Sale Agreement.
- Oversee a diverse team of three Ore Control Geologists, one Production Modeler and drill contractors.
- Be a proactive member of the technical and operations team
- Other duties as assigned to support Granite Creek and i-80 Gold Corp
Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field
- 7 years of demonstrated progressive experience in underground mine geology
- Experience in underground, Carlin-style deposits preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of metal-non-metal underground mining regulations as pertaining to typical mine geology tasks
- Good understanding of drilling techniques, mineralized systems, rock alteration, geologic, and structural mapping
- Basic understanding of underground mine operations and geological modeling.
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office products and user of Vulcan or similar modeling software for geologic modeling
- Good verbal, written, and listening communications skills and comfortable doing so with both internal and external stakeholders
- Authorized to work in the United States
