Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Senior HVAC & MEP Forensics Practice Builder to join the Miami office!

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct forensic investigations of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems related to system failures, property damage, construction defects, fires, water intrusion, and personal injury claims
  • Perform mechanical and MEP failure analysis, including evaluation of design, installation, operation, maintenance, and code compliance
  • Execute site investigations, document field observations, and prepare clear, defensible technical reports
  • Provide timely and accurate forensic findings in both verbal and written form to clients
  • Support engineering conclusions through depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial testimony
  • Lead business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, pursuing new clients, and expanding services with existing clients
  • Develop, retain, and strengthen relationships with attorneys, insurers, owners, developers, contractors, and other industry partners
  • Grow and mentor the HVAC and MEP forensic engineering team as the practice expands

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (Electrical Engineering background with strong HVAC/MEP experience will be considered); advanced degree a plus
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • 10+ years of forensic engineering experience, with at least 5 years managing forensic projects
  • Demonstrated experience in HVAC and/or MEP forensic investigations
  • Proven track record of successfully managing clients and winning work
  • Strong business development, client management, and leadership skills
  • Experience preparing expert reports and providing testimony
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, MathCAD, and building system analysis tools a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to mentor staff and direct resources effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably
