Job Overview

The Senior Master Planner will lead end-to-end master planning activities while designing and deploying advanced planning tools and reporting solutions to strengthen decision-making and improve planning performance. This role is ideal for a planner who is highly proficient in Excel, Power BI, SQL, and who can translate business needs into practical planning solutions-especially in environments where the ERP system lacks planning functionality. The individual will also support process development and implementation, leveraging experience with SAP and strong cross-functional collaboration.

A Day In The Life

  • Own and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and ensure alignment with demand, inventory targets, capacity, and material availability.
  • Convert demand signals into feasible supply plans, balancing service levels, inventory, capacity, and cost.
  • Monitor key planning KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, inventory turns, schedule adherence) and drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Lead or support planning reviews (S&OP / SIOP cadence as applicable), highlighting risks, constraints, and mitigation plans.
  • Design, build, and maintain planning tools that enhance or complement JDE capabilities.
  • Create and automate data pipelines and planning datasets using SQL and/or Python to enable accurate and repeatable reporting.
  • Develop executive-ready dashboards and analytics using Power BI, including data modeling, DAX measures, and actionable visualizations.
  • Lead development and implementation of standardized planning processes, including documentation, training, and change management.
  • Collaborate with IT, Operations, Procurement, and Customer Service to improve master data quality, planning parameters, and system discipline.
  • Support ERP/Planning system integration efforts and process harmonization across sites
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Procurement, and Quality to resolve supply constraints, manage change impacts, and improve stability.
  • Communicate planning risks and tradeoffs clearly; drive alignment on priorities and execution plans.


What will help you thrive in this role?

  • 2-3+ years of experience in Master Planning / Production Planning / Supply Planning (manufacturing environment preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Excel (power user: pivot tables, Power Query, complex formulas; VBA is a plus)
    • Power BI (data modeling, DAX, dashboard development)
    • SQL (writing queries, joins, building datasets)
    • Python (data analysis/automation; e.g., pandas, scripting workflows) - desirable
  • ERP planning experience and familiarity with SAP (desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience in process development and implementation, including standard work, documentation, and training.
  • Strong understanding of planning fundamentals (MPS, MRP concepts, lead times, safety stock, inventory optimization, capacity planning).
