Position Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Req # 3244)
Job Description:
Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes forprecision opto-electronic components employing state-of-the-art microwave andfiber-optic technologies. Hands-on work in a low volume and high mix assemblyand test environment. Support wafer back-end processing and chip-on-carrierassembly. Improve manufacturing processes using Lean Manufacturing techniques.Implement statistical process controls and perform analysis using softwaretools such as Minitab. Streamline processes and eliminate waste by utilizingvalue engineering, cost saving ideas and failure root cause analysis.Collaborate with Product Development to launch new products into themanufacturing line. Draft changes to enhance product quality, improve yield andmanufacturability, eliminate variation, and reduce cost. Design and implementassembly fixtures, jigs, and test setups used in production. Review theergonomics and safety of the production area and the material condition ofexisting fixtures. Lead moderately complex equipment installations andqualifications. Implement equipment PM schedules. Perform or coordinatecorrective maintenance efforts on equipment as required. Create productdocumentation inputs and updates using Microsoft Word and Powerpoint software.Use Agile
system to submit Engineering Change Orders and newmanufacturing procedures and other
documentation. Lead Kaizen teams • and activities in supportof Lean Manufacturing efforts. Train
production employees in manufacturing processes and theoperation of equipment. Support AS9100 Quality System. Conducts riskassessments on equipment. Travel up to 5% of the time is required.
Job Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Electronics,Telecommunications, or a directly related field plus
three (3) years of technology manufacturing engineeringexperience. Requires two (2) years of experience in at least four (4) of theskills listed below:
• Minitab;
• PFMEA, PCP and OCAP;
• Design of Experiments (DOE);
• Agile Systems;
• AS9100 Quality Systems;
• MIL-STDS, J standards and IPC 610.
Alternatively, the employer accepts a Master's degree inElectronics, Telecommunications, or a
directly related field plus two (2) years of technologymanufacturing engineering experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus three(3) years of described experience. Travel up to 5% of the time is required.
