Senior Manufacturing & Automation EngineerPosition Overview Accu-Glass is seeking a hands-on, multi-disciplinary Engineer to lead and grow our in-house engineering team. Accu-Glass is focused on high-precision glass manufacturing for the medical, life sciences, and industrial markets. Reporting directly to the President of Accu-Glass, you will manage a small engineering group, establish company-wide engineering standards, and work closely with Production, Quality, and Executive Management to align technical projects with business objectives.
Core Responsibilities - Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor the engineering and maintenance staff. You will focus on building individual strengths, improving team collaboration, and establishing operational accountability.
- Engineering Standards: Establish engineering workflows, equipment design best practices, and documentation standards.
- Hands-on Technical Support: Provide direct engineering support to resolve complex manufacturing issues on the production floor, utilizing structured root-cause analysis.
- Resource Optimization: Structure the department effectively, allowing the team to efficiently pivot between urgent production support and long-term process automation projects.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Production, Quality, and executive leadership to align engineering efforts with broader business goals.
Technical Requirements & Qualifications - Proven Leadership: Strong background managing technical teams, improving operational dynamics, and guiding cross-functional projects to completion.
- Automation & Machine Design: Significant experience with the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation/control practices in custom automated machinery.
- Engineering Tools: Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling, complex assembly design, component fabrication, technical drafting, and data analysis in Excel.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Demonstrated troubleshooting and root-cause skills to assess automated manufacturing equipment/processes issues.
- Regulated Environments: Working knowledge of quality systems, equipment validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ), and formal engineering change control.
Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
- 10 to 15 years of experience designing, building, and supporting custom automated machinery within an active manufacturing environment.
