ABOUT THE TEAMMaritime Digital Production (MDP) is the software and digital systems function within Anduril's Heavy Metal division. We build the software-defined shipyard. That means the full technology stack running Anduril's shipbuilding factories: the data infrastructure that makes every machine and sensor visible in real time, ArsenalOS, our manufacturing execution system that workers and planners use every shift, the scheduling engine that replans production in minutes instead of days, and the AI systems that eliminate manual toil from both the shop floor and business operations.
This work is anchored by Arsenal-2, our software-defined shipyard being built in Baltimore County, Maryland. It's part of a new $6.6 billion investment in America's submarine industrial base. ArsenalOS is the digital backbone of that yard. It connects fabrication and outfitting to material movement and inspection. Planners get one real-time view of production. We aren't waiting for the yard to open. Development is already underway here in Orange County, California. The team is proving out the manufacturing methods and digital workflows that will scale across the shipyard network.
MDP operates at the boundary between Operational Technology and Information Technology. Our systems live where factory-floor machines, edge compute, and OT networks meet enterprise platforms and cloud infrastructure. We incubate solutions close to the production line, validate them with real operators building real hardware, harden them for reliability and security, and then scale them across multiple sites. The environment is fast, physical, and consequential. When our systems go down, production stops. The output of our work is not a dashboard: it is a ship.
This is not a support function. It is a strategic investment by Anduril in the premise that digitizing the manufacturing lifecycle end-to-end, from engineering definition through scheduling through execution through field feedback, is how Heavy Metal will out-build, out-adapt, and out-scale the traditional defense industrial base. MDP is scaling from a founding team to 70+ engineers across multiple U.S. sites. You will be joining early, working on hard problems with real operational stakes, and shaping how manufacturing software is built at Anduril from the ground up.
ABOUT THE JOBMaritime Digital Production builds the software and the engineering practice that run Anduril's production systems. This role owns how parts get made from the model. There's no drawing in this flow.
You'll define the standard work that connects engineering design data to the machine tools on the floor. That covers the CAM practice and the staged model process. It also covers the traceability that lets a process requirement be followed all the way to an as-run result. None of that practice exists here yet. You're writing it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Write the standard work and process procedures for machining and fabrication, traceable to characteristics in the technical data package.
- Own the CAM practice. That includes how model geometry and PMI drive toolpath decisions. It also includes how NC programs reach machine tools without manual file transfers.
- Define the staged model standard. That means the Stage, M-State and Operation objects that describe how a part moves through manufacturing.
- Set manufacturing readiness criteria for program gate milestones and get them accepted by program leadership.
- Work directly with the software engineers building the data pipeline. The handoffs between design, manufacturing and inspection have to carry what the next step actually uses.
- Bring physics-based machining simulation into production CAM workflows to validate programs before cutting metal.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- 8+ years in precision manufacturing process engineering. You've written the standard work and the process procedures yourself.
- Hands-on CAM programming in NX CAM, Mastercam or equivalent. A working understanding of how model geometry and PMI drive toolpath decisions.
- Working knowledge of model-based definition practice. That includes staged models, STEP AP242 and QIF, and how model data carries into manufacturing and inspection.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience managing NC program delivery to machine tools and capturing as-run data.
- Physics-based machining simulation experience in Vericut, AdvantEdge, CutPro or equivalent.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment with formal traceability requirements.
