Senior Manager, Museum SystemsThe Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Senior Manager, Museum Systems for our Digital Strategies department. The Senior Manager, Museum Systems drives the vision, long-term roadmaps, and execution for museum-wide technology systems including ticketing, CRM, web, collections data, and DAMS; aligning digital capabilities directly with organizational strategy and growth. Manage the full software development lifecycle for museum systems from requirements discovery through deployment, driving robust integrations across software platforms and maintaining strategic vendor partnerships. Oversee ongoing system administration, ensuring long-term operationality for internal users while maintaining a focus on improving guest experience through both internal and external-facing software. Maintain relationships and collaboration with external providers and vendors to cultivate strategic partnerships that support key organizational objectives. Cultivate and mentor a high-performing team of developers, architects, and system administrators; overseeing task allocation, team performance, talent growth, and inclusive team culture.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Works closely with department leadership to develop and sustain a positive, engaging, and inclusive department work environment.
- Performs job functions in a manner that advances the Museum's mission and strategic goals, fostering internal collaboration across departments.
- Develops and aligns goals and objectives for museum systems with the Director to ensure successful implementation of the strategic plan.
- Manages, mentors, and directs staff, including developers, architects, and system administrators, overseeing performance and task allocation.
- Oversees system administration and roadmaps for ticketing, CRM, web, collections data, and DAMS across the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborates with external vendors and third-party providers to evaluate performance, negotiate pricing, and maintain strategic partnerships.
- Provides project management for ongoing system improvements, software updates, and integrations.
- Works with internal user groups to gather business requirements and translate them into specifications for system enhancements and reporting.
- Evaluates emerging technology solutions and provides recommendations to support long-term operationality and guest experience.
This position has the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 3 years in managing direct reports
- 6-10+ years of experience in system administration and management, including experience overseeing museum core platforms (ticketing, CRM, web, collections data/DAMS).
- Proven leadership experience managing, mentoring, and directing technical teams (developers, architects, and system administrators).
- Strong background managing the end-to-end software development lifecycle, building product roadmaps, and translating business requirements into technical enhancements.
- Deep experience with integrating museum systems (Tessitura preferred), including ticketing, CRM configuration, and collections systems.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating external vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing third-party strategic partnerships.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering software updates, system integrations, and process improvements.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with project team members, supervisors, and employees from other departments.
The salary range for this position is $137,657 - $148,018.23 with experience plus excellent benefits. This is a full time regular, exempt position.
