Full Job Description
Overview:

Veeco is looking for a Manufacturing Operations leader who brings strong execution, cross-functional partnership, and hands-on leadership to support our IBD300 product line. In this role, youll lead the manufacturing organization responsible for building, testing, and delivering the IBD300 product line, partnering closely with Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Service to meet customer commitments and business objectives. The Senior Manager, Manufacturing Operations - IBD300 Product Line, reports to the Sr. VP, Global Operations, and serves as a key member of the operations team. This position requires a manufacturing leader with experience in bringing complex capital equipment to market in a high-mix/low-volume environment. The responsibilities include production, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality execution, and continuous improvement.

The work location for this position is on-site at our manufacturing partners Beverly, MA facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the manufacturing team responsible for the IBD300 product line, including sub-assembly, assembly, integration, test, and shipment readiness activities.
  • Drive a safety-first culture and drive achievement of product line safety goals, including zero preventable incidents.
  • Partnering with your peers (engineering, software, supply chain, quality and planning) to develop hardware, software and manufacturing processes that support operational goals (safety, quality, on time delivery, gross margin, cycle time).
  • Drive concurrent engineering activities to optimize the design for: modularity, DfX (design for manufacturing, servicing, quality), first pass yield, delayed configurability, ergonomics, low-cost sourcing, etc.
  • Drive product line quality performance, including in-box quality, out-of-box quality, first-pass yield, rework reduction, and effective containment of production issues.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering against committed schedules, targeting on-time shipment performance of greater than 95%.
  • Develop and manage product line manufacturing plans, staffing requirements, capacity needs, budget inputs, and performance metrics in alignment with business demand.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and operational standards, including ISO 9001 requirements and 6S expectations within the IBD300 manufacturing area.
  • Build and develop a high-performing IBD300 manufacturing team through training, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and effective workforce planning.
  • Establish and execute a product line productivity roadmap focused on labor efficiency, cycle time, earned hours versus burned hours, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead daily product line operating reviews and GEMBA activities to identify priorities, remove roadblocks, and ensure timely escalation of critical issues.
  • Lead production-related quality investigations and corrective actions using structured problem solving, 8D, root cause analysis, and shift-left activities.
  • Execute product transition, change implementation, and manufacturing readiness plans within the product life cycle management phase-gate process.


Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Operations Management, New Product Introduction, or a related discipline and a minimum of 7 years of progressive manufacturing operations leadership experience, including leadership of production teams in a complex manufacturing environment, is required. Experience in bringing a new product to market is strongly preferred. High-mix, low-volume capital equipment manufacturing experience, including large-scale systems with complex bills of material, is required. Experience with Lean manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, Concurrent engineering, Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, and production quality management is also required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of semiconductor capital equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to manage product line budgets, capacity, staffing, labor efficiency, and operational performance metrics.
  • Technical capabilities to participate in concurrent engineering activities and design reviews.
  • Practical mindset relative to manufacturability, production execution, test readiness, material availability, and business processes.
  • Process-oriented, data-driven mindset for decision-making and driving quality into the product through internal manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
  • A dynamic leader who will possess the essential characteristics of a 4can-do attitude, integrity, competitiveness, accountability, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Capable of creating, articulating, and implementing a clear manufacturing vision and operating rhythm for the IBD300 product line.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop a high-performing product line team through assessment, recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and development.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DfM) training/experience a plus.
  • Experience with SAP and world-class MES systems is a plus.
  • This position will require domestic travel and some international travel to support IBD300 product line needs, supplier engagement, customer commitments, or cross-site collaboration.


Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $130,000-$167,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
