WHAT YOU WILL DO
This position leads the Genesis Systems Quality Engineering team, responsible for all vehicle systems, bumper to bumper. Direct and integrate Genesis system engineering activities across new and current models to identify and escalate emerging concerns, accelerate corrective actions, and support Genesis leadership in vehicle quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsible for validating product complaints, qualitative analysis, recalling and analysis of warranty parts and the reporting of any existing systematic product problems.
Responsible for the development of countermeasures for (a) field repairs and (b) production in coordination with HMC.
Responsible for timely distribution of all related Technical Service Bulletins including Recall Campaigns.
Ensure support to achieve high ranking of IQS/VDS/CR surveys.
Ensure KPI's related to Total Cost of Quality (TCQ) are on target.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Responsible for leadership and strategic direction of the Genesis System Engineering team, ensure the Systems Engineers understand and proactively own all related activities of their assigned system.
Lead Total Cost of Quality activities through warranty cost reduction, buyback prevention, FRFT, down level part TSB publication etc.
Coordinate the collection and analysis of warranty return parts, dealer visits and on-car investigations to determine the cause of failure and initiate corrective action.
Conduct regular meetings with the Vehicle System Engineers to review and prioritize the investigation, status and communication of resolution of product problems.
Monitor the analysis of warranty and Techline databases, customer surveys, warranty parts analyses and Field Service Engineering reports on an ongoing basis to detect new systematic product problems and to gauge the effectiveness of countermeasures taken against known problems.
Manage the development of field repair solutions and initiate production changes, as necessary. Manage the follow up of Quality Information Reports in the CCC system to ensure that timely action is taken.
Manage the timely distribution of all Technical Service Bulletins (including Recall Campaigns) to Hyundai/Genesis dealers by Vehicle System Engineers.
Continually provide required technical support training to ensure that Vehicle System Engineers are familiar with the latest relevant technology.
Ensure successful launches of new models and support of Launch Quality Monitoring Process.
Conduct Labor Time Study (LTS) on new models to ensure fair/adequate repair time and procedure for dealers and HMC/HMMA.
Coordinate and manage the Monthly Quality Report development each month.
Work closely and cooperatively with various groups throughout the organization (Data Analysis Group, Field Service Engineers, Legal, Consumer Affairs, Warranty, Parts and Techline group to communicate/interchange technical and service-related problems and resolutions.
Monitor and clearly identify JDPA IQS/VDS/CSI (FRFT) and CR Reliability (Durability) surveys liabilities and develop improvement and validation plans accordingly.
Evaluate, Troubleshoot, and Diagnose vehicle installed field failure parts (improved QIR problem definition)
Support Fuel Cell program from the technical/quality side.
Oversee reviewing of collision repair manuals and releasing to the US Market (Dealers & Body shops).
Oversee interaction with body shop and dealers, representing Hyundai/Genesis Engineering on topics related to body repairs.
Oversee development of required Special Service Tools to assist Dealers with vehicle repairs.
Develop, support and conduct competitor benchmarking and customer preference studies.
Effectively coach, counsel, and develop staff. Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing staff's time, materials and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company.
Conduct other tasks related to the Purpose of this Position as assigned or requested.
Approve Vehicle System Engineers expense reports.
Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and provide employee orientation.
Coach and provide career development advice to staff.
Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
Responsible for staff scheduling to include work assignments/projects, employee training, employee vacations and back-up for absent employees.
Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.
Responsible for meeting department productivity and quality goals.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Must be a high school graduate
Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Engineering or related science.
Masters degree in Automotive Engineering, or related science, preferred.
Eight or more years of professional experience.
Five or more years of Automotive Retail and Wholesale experience preferred.
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical/problem solving ability.
Strong data management/general and statistical analysis/reporting
Individual must be well organized yet flexible to accomplish objectives that are often subject to change.
Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision and direction.
