Full Job Description

The Family Office Accounting Senior Manager leads a team supporting multiple Family Office clients, including Accountants and Managers. This role is responsible for developing talent, optimizing resource allocation, and building trusted client relationships. The Senior Manager drives process improvement, ensures high-quality financial reporting, and collaborates across departments to facilitate smooth onboarding and contribute to business growth. They take ownership of their clients’ success journey, proactively addressing needs and delivering an exceptional client experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own assigned client engagements end-to-end, driving deadlines, deliverables, client communication, team coordination, and issue resolution

  • Lead and direct a pod of Managers and staff, setting clear expectations, priorities, and accountability for timely, accurate execution

  • Train and coach team members on client-specific processes, accounting expectations, reporting requirements, systems, and quality standards

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate monthly finance and accounting services to ensure work is complete, accurate, and client-ready

  • Serve as a Family Office accounting subject matter expert, including technical guidance on US GAAP and complex client matters

  • Perform detailed quality reviews of financial statements, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and workpapers with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and presentation

  • Identify execution gaps, process issues, or training needs early and drive corrective action before matters escalate

  • Build and maintain repeatable processes, checklists, calendars, and review procedures to create consistency across client engagements

  • Act as a liaison between clients, external auditors, internal stakeholders, and other service providers

  • Support onboarding of new clients, including resource planning, work allocation, client training, and internal team readiness

  • Support business development through participation in prospect meetings, pricing, and drafting engagement letters

  • Lead complex Single Family Office engagements with multi-entity structures, intercompany activity, trusts, partnerships, and investment entities

  • Drive accurate investment accounting, including traditional and alternative assets, capital statements, brokerage postings, reconciliations, bond amortization, equity/fund accounting, and omnibus accounts

  • Oversee entity ownership changes, assignments, entity-level reporting, trust financial reporting, etc.

  • Use family office systems and reporting tools, including Sage Intacct and investment reporting platforms such as Addepar or equivalents, to improve efficiency and transparency

  • Create structure in complex client environments by defining processes, training the team, monitoring execution, and ensuring final deliverables meet family office quality expectations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 7 years of accounting experience, including both public and industry experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading teams in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment

  • Full-cycle accounting experience, including financial reporting, A/P and A/R, and account reconciliations, with a solid understanding of US GAAP

  • Strong knowledge of SFO structures, entity transfers, and investment accounting across asset classes

  • Experience with brokerage postings, capital statements, and reconciliation techniques

  • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems, including Sage Intacct

  • Familiarity with:

    • Investment reporting systems (e.g., Addepar or equivalents)

    • Equity management and fund accounting

    • Intercompany accounting and trust financials

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CMA license

  • Experience with cloud-based accounting system conversions

  • Familiarity with:

    • Omnibus bank account management

    • Section 704(c) and tax stuffing concepts

Certain states require us to disclose the pay range and benefits summary for job openings. For Illinois residents and New York residents, the compensation range for this position: $108,500 - $189,300. Compensation may vary based on skills, role, and location. Eligible employees at certain levels can participate in a discretionary long-term financial incentive plan, subject to plan participation rules.
