The PositionWe are seeking a
Senior Logistics Manager to be responsible for managing all warehouse, distribution, receiving and inventory control functions for a multiple facility operation. You will be responsible for providing trained, qualified staff to execute flow of materials and finished goods from suppliers, within manufacturing, and to customers. You will be directly responsible for providing a safe environment and practices, meeting all established product and performance quality expectations, and delivering the product demand while meeting all financial expectations. You will lead your staff in utilizing all provided systems to accurately execute, monitor and track inventory accuracy, labor utilization, and equipment performance, and use proper metrics and KPI's to drive continuous improvement. You will partner with peers and other members of the Alene Candles team to meet these objectives and maintain our manufacturing as an industry leader.

- Directs inbound and outbound domestic and international logistics operations, such as transportation, receiving, shipping, and warehouse activities, safety performance, and logistics quality management.
- Managing day-to-day warehouse operations to include receiving, shipping, storage and inventory control across a multishift process.
- Manage inventory assets and improve inventory turns. Insure timely and accurate reporting of inventories.
- Ability to evaluate indirect costs associated with customer requirements.
- Ensures appropriate staffing, training, and evaluation of departmental personnel to provide the appropriate skill levels to meet the needs of the business in the most efficient manner.
- Coordinates closely with Alene Program Managers and customers to ensure delivery of product in compliance with contractual obligations and ensuring collection of contractually required documents as may be needed for collection of payments.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with customer representatives to provide for the best service possible.
- Develops metrics for establishing baseline Logistics Department performance and trends in cost and efficiency.
- Develops relationships with transportation vendors to reduce cost and reaction time, improving transport times and costs.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), well-developed financial analysis capabilities and demonstrated ability to manage computer operations and applications.
- Manages and develops strong leadership skills in production supervisors, line leaders and key production staff.
- Take the lead role in identifying and developing necessary training protocols to ensure that all associates are fully qualified to perform the job they are hired for as quickly as possible. Plan & execute accordingly to manage the very large "ramp" in labor requirements as the demand increases into and through our busy season.
- Analyzes, plans, and recommends optimum warehouse/raw material layout to improve methods and increase productivity/efficiency for department.
- Consults with the Plant Manager and Human Resources to resolve personnel and staffing issues. Evaluates, develops, and disciplines employees on all shifts.
- Conducts all operations in accordance with state and federal laws, good business ethics, company policies, principles, and procedures, and under direction of the Plant Manager.
- Provides leadership in identifying cost saving opportunities in equipment and facilities related processes.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management or related field
- 15+ years of manufacturing-related logistics experience
- Experience in negotiating with vendors for services such as air freight, trucking and freight forwarders
- Previous supervisory experience is required
Preferred Qualifications- Understand ERP/WMS system functionality and be able to work within systems to manage inventory transactions, shop order execution and data analysis to manage and solve problems.
- Understands capacity planning and has a vision for warehouse layout and material flow.
- Excellent teamwork, Strong verbal, and written communication skills.
- Solid coaching, mentoring, and motivation skills.
- Able to foster an environment of mutual respect and professionalism on all levels.
- Experience in building resource models for indirect labor and equipment.
- Hands-on experience with 5S, poke-yoke implementation, and Kaizen events.
- Strong computer and analytical skills. Advanced excel skills are a strong plus.
