Discover your exciting roleThe Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for the following systems: HVAC wet/dry, plumbing, controls and the like.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities- Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC (wet/dry) systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, general manufacturing/process facilities and institutional facilities
- Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing and selection
- Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
- Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by discipline team
- Develops of conceptual design, preliminary design and final design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation
- Diagrams, general arrangements and sequences of operation associated with these systems
- Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
- Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines' inputs are incorporated
- Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
- Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Show your expertise- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record preferred
- 10+ years of experience
- Good time management skills, strong work ethic and attention to details
- Individual must possess strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
- Energetic and self-motivated
- Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
- Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of industrial and manufacturing facilities and systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products
- Ability to mentor and train junior staff
- Advanced Technology experience preferred
- Experience with Autodesk Building Systems Software
- Consulting engineering experience preferred
- Experience working within a team environment
- Experience in the quality control review process
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
