Description

The Senior Lead, Finance Platform Engineering provides engineering leadership and is accountable for the successful realization, governance, and continuous improvement of the enterprise Finance platform portfolio. This role provides day-to-day leadership for the Finance Platform Engineering organization while executing approved platform strategy through engineering realization, modernization planning, platform optimization, business engagement, and long-term platform health.

Reporting to the Executive Director, ERP & Value Chain Platform Engineering, the Senior Lead partners closely with Finance Product and Technology leaders, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Business Services (EBS), Operations & Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and strategic technology partners to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable Finance capabilities that support global business operations.

This role provides engineering leadership across SAP ECC and related Finance platforms while overseeing engineering realization of approved business requirements and solution designs through Enterprise Business Services (EBS), strategic partners, and cross-functional engineering teams. The Senior Lead ensures engineering quality, delivery excellence, platform stability, production readiness, and continuous improvement while supporting modernization initiatives, platform optimization, and long-term lifecycle management.

The Senior Lead also provides engineering leadership across Finance platforms by proactively managing engineering risks, technical dependencies, delivery readiness, and platform health while ensuring engineering execution aligns with approved solution designs, enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and enterprise engineering practices.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering leadership, deep SAP Finance expertise, and enterprise platform experience with the ability to balance technical leadership, organizational development, engineering partnership, and engineering excellence across a complex global Finance landscape.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Engineering Realization, Delivery Leadership & Platform Stewardship (40%)
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the Finance Platform Engineering organization, including direct leadership of Finance Platform Engineering Managers, while executing approved platform strategy through engineering realization, modernization delivery, platform optimization, lifecycle execution, and long-term platform health.
  • Lead engineering realization across Enterprise Business Services (EBS), strategic technology partners, and cross-functional engineering teams, ensuring successful delivery of approved business requirements and solution designs through high-quality engineering execution and production readiness.
  • Provide engineering leadership across core Finance capabilities including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets (AA), Controlling (CO), Treasury, Financial Close, and Finance integrations.
  • Partner with the Executive Director, Finance Product and Technology leaders, and Enterprise Architecture to execute approved engineering roadmaps, modernization initiatives, and long-term platform lifecycle plans.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables align with approved solution designs, enterprise architecture standards, engineering principles, security requirements, and established development methodologies.
  • Provide engineering leadership for major Finance platform initiatives, ensuring delivery excellence, operational readiness, knowledge transfer, and successful transition into ongoing support.

  • Establish engineering governance, technical quality standards, release readiness, platform lifecycle management, and delivery controls supporting enterprise Finance platforms.
  • Ensure engineering quality, production readiness, platform optimization, lifecycle execution, engineering governance, and long-term platform sustainability across Finance solutions.
  • Lead engineering capacity planning, resource forecasting, and delivery planning to support approved business demand while maintaining engineering quality, platform stability, and delivery commitments.
  • Consolidate engineering risks, technical dependencies, delivery status, and platform readiness across Finance initiatives while proactively escalating issues that impact approved solution designs, enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, platform stability, or delivery commitments.
  • Drive continuous improvement through platform optimization, engineering automation, environment strategy, technical debt remediation planning, modernization delivery, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Operations & Infrastructure, and Finance Technology teams to ensure engineering solutions align with enterprise standards, operational requirements, and long-term platform sustainability.

  • Partner with Finance Product and Technology leaders to translate approved business requirements, solution designs, and product roadmaps into engineering realization plans supporting enterprise Finance capabilities and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Business Services (EBS), business stakeholders, and strategic technology partners to successfully deliver Finance platform modernization and transformation initiatives.
  • Provide engineering leadership during planning, estimation, engineering reviews, testing, deployment, production readiness, and production acceptance activities.
  • Support Finance platform modernization initiatives including SAP ECC optimization, SAP S/4HANA transformation activities, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) adoption, OneStream integration, and AI-enabled engineering capabilities where appropriate.
  • Escalate material engineering implementation risks or deviations that impact approved solution designs, enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, or platform stability through established governance processes.

Qualifications

Finance Platform Leadership & Enterprise ERP Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience governing enterprise Finance platforms, ERP applications, or Finance technology organizations within complex global enterprises.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience governing large-scale SAP ERP Finance environments supporting Record-to-Report (R2R), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), Fixed Assets (AA), Controlling (CO), Treasury, and Financial Reporting capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of SAP ECC and the broader SAP application ecosystem supporting enterprise Finance business capabilities. Experience with enterprise financial consolidation and performance management platforms (e.g., OneStream), enterprise planning solutions, and modern Finance transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to develop engineering roadmaps, lifecycle plans, and modernization strategies supporting approved platform strategy while balancing technical sustainability, engineering capacity, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering realization of approved business requirements and solution designs across Enterprise Business Services (EBS), strategic technology partners, and global engineering organizations while maintaining accountability for engineering quality and platform outcomes.
