The Senior Human Performance Advisor serves as the enterprise‑level technical authority for human performance within the POTFF program. This position provides strategic guidance, oversight, and coordination across multiple components and theater commands. The Senior HPA drives policy development, program synchronization, readiness enhancement initiatives, and enterprise‑wide human performance integration to support optimal well‑being and mission effectiveness. This role mentors embedded human performance staff, advises senior leaders, and leads innovation efforts across human performance domains.

 

HOW A SENIOR HUMAN PERFORMANCE ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

 

• Function as an enterprise-wide technical authority for area of expertise within the POTFF Program at HQ USSOCOM
• Assists their supervisory domain lead in the performance of his/her duties as domain program oversight for the Components, HQ, and TSOCs
• Perform administrative duties in nature, but may be authorized to work minimal hours at HQ and SOCCENT POTFF to maintain their professional license, if time permits and as desired by the HPA
• Assist in providing oversight and compliance documentation in area of technical expertise for site assist visits and IG inspections performed by USSOCOM POTFF staff
• Assist or conduct meetings with the enterprise as deemed necessary to communicate or disseminate information up and down the chain of command to subordinate Components and TSOCs
• Leads strategic planning, policy development, and data integration efforts to advance technical area of expertise readiness across global SOF units.
• Direct and mentors a network of embedded operational health and/or performance professionals.
• Drives the creation and dissemination of cutting-edge training, research, and communications in support of mission-critical human performance initiatives
• Provides expert consultation to senior leaders across USSOCOM and the DOW, ensuring human performance strategies are aligned with operational demands and emerging threats.
• Champions innovation, interagency collaboration, and evidence-based practices to optimize SOF Service member optimal human performance.
• As a subject matter expert for this labor category, the primary role is for the purpose of mitigation, treatment, management, and preservation of the cognitive, physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being of Service Members and their families.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEEED TO SUCCEEED:

 

EDUCATION:

• Master’s degree in accredited exercise science, health science, physical education-related discipline or a degree in dietetics, physical therapy or sports psychology.
• Creditable specialized experience includes conducting long- and short-range planning and coordination of new functional programs, a history of positive attributable results from HPA work and relevant work experience in a collegiate and/or professional level athletic environment, and experience conducting multidomain programming such as lecture, multi-media and practical hands-on training related to strength, conditioning, performance nutrition, and team dynamics.
• Current certification of one of the following: CSCS, SCCC, Physical Therapist, Certified Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CCAASP), Registered Dietitian (RD), or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
• Minimum of (10) years, which must include (5) years embedded in USSOCOM POTFF, or more of demonstrable accumulated experience of developing long- and short- range planning and coordination of sport- and/or mission-specific performance programs resulting in attributable results with individual athletes and groups of athletes at the levels of NCAA Collegiate Division I, Olympic, professional sports, and/or SOF Operators in the accompanying, respective settings.

 

CLEARANCE: Secret or Top-Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance.

 

LOCATION: Various CONUS SITES

 

This is a contingent posting, expected to start in 2027.

The likely salary range for this position is $96,569 - $130,651. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
