In this position you will be supporting various business operations, including Banner Plans and Networks, and the Banner finance and strategy teams with strategic, targeted communications plans and tactics, including but not limited to news releases, talking points, fact sheets, social media posts, video scripting.

This is a full time Hybrid position.

Candidates must reside in Arizona as it will require some in-person work at our Phoenix Corporate Center.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible supporting business operations, specifically Banner Plans and Networks, the Banner finance and strategy teams with strategic, targeted communications plans and tactics, including but not limited to news releases, talking points, fact sheets, social media posts, video scripting. This role will provide guidance, and counsel to leadership on effective communication approaches that protect the brand and support Banner's strategic objectives. This position provides leadership in building the Banner brand with financial and investor audiences, health plan- stakeholders (government regulators and policymakers, employers, brokers) and targeted communities to cultivate new business opportunities and partnerships. It requires the ability to understand Banner's mission and vision and business goals. This position will work closely with senior executive leadership and manage sensitive information in the course of this work.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. This position provides leadership in building the Banner Plans and Networks brand, collaborating with Health Plan leadership and the broader public relations and marketing team to support the Health Plan's external communication needs. This position will be responsible for various communications and executive support which require quick, independent decision-making. This position will be responsible for developing communications plans for programs and initiatives that fall within its scope.

2. This position will interact with Banner's Senior Leadership Team, corporate executives and leaders, c-suite level individuals, including the President/CEO, CFO and Health Plan leader and other subject matter experts. In addition, this position will interact with the marketing/PR shared services team, as well as various other corporate services departments.

3. Supports payer communications needs, including collaborating with broader operations teams to support letters to physicians and consumers during payer negotiations and changes in service.

4. Supports communications needs for the Finance team, including media response, executive talking points and other messaging related to quarterly MD&A reports. Works with finance team to support the development of annual ratings agency materials.

5. Ensures the timely development and execution of plans, campaigns, and projects to assure goals are achieved.

6. Executes duties and assignments as directed in compliance with corporate guidelines and objectives.

7. Identifies and resolves complex problems that put the organization at reputational risk. Partners with clinical and operational colleagues to position Banner in the best possible light, and collaborates with legal and compliance to create and update policies that protect the organization's external reputation

8. Maintains open and complete communications of issues with leaders and corporate management. May support the defining, development and execution of strategic system-wide communications and campaigns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a strong knowledge of public relations and communications as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing or related field.

Skill level as typically evidenced through 7 to 10 years' healthcare (provider, payer) public relations experience in a large organization.

Must possess a significant knowledge and understanding of major trends in healthcare, financial dynamics of healthcare providers and mass communication required.

Previous health plan experience and/or experience working with payers in a provider environment is preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with conflict and manage relations that balance system needs and entity priorities. Knowledge of modern graphic and production methods required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree preferred. Proven supervisory experience strongly preferred. Prior experience in healthcare, public relations strongly preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
