Full Job Description
Role Overview:
This role involves comprehensive ownership of the Harness platform as Deluxe's enterprise delivery platform, encompassing architecture, configuration standards, RBAC, governance, module adoption, and vendor relationship management. The engineer will also manage the broader SDLC toolchain and establish guidelines for AI tooling integration into engineering workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the Harness platform, including architecture, configuration standards, RBAC, governance model, module adoption roadmap, and vendor relationship.
Establish reusable CI pipeline templates, shared libraries, build caching, parallelization standards, and CI patterns.
Define CD strategies such as progressive, canary, blue-green deployments, GitOps workflows, environment/artifact promotion paths, and approval gates.
Orchestrate Security Testing Orchestration (STO) including SAST, DAST, SCA, container, and secrets scanning across pipelines, setting severity thresholds and owning remediation SLAs.
Define Software Engineering Intelligence (SEI) metrics like DORA, flow, lead time, and review latency, ensuring guardrails on their use.
Deliver Cloud Cost Management (CCM) features such as visibility, budgets, anomaly detection, non-production autostopping, and showback/chargeback.
Set policy-as-code standards for versioned, reviewable, and auditable pipeline governance.
Own the SDLC toolchain (source control, issue tracking, artifact management, static analysis, test infrastructure), including integration architecture, license management, and consolidation.
Define golden paths for commit-to-production workflows.
Establish safe usage of AI tooling in design, code generation, testing, and documentation, including evaluation criteria and governance.
Required Skills:
Ownership experience with an enterprise CI/CD platform (Harness, GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions with Argo/Spinnaker, or Jenkins at scale).
Expertise in pipeline-as-code, templating, RBAC design, secrets management, and multi-team governance.
Experience integrating security scanning into delivery pipelines and setting policy gates.
Working command of engineering delivery metrics (DORA or equivalent).
Depth in API and integration architecture: REST, asynchronous messaging, event-driven patterns, and API lifecycle governance.
Proficiency in cloud-native architecture and Kubernetes in production.
Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams and explain trade-offs to executives.
Qualifications:
10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, or platform engineering, including senior architecture leadership on distributed, high-availability systems.
Experience in payments, fintech, merchant services, or a comparably regulated transaction-processing domain.
Preferred Skills:
Hands-on experience with Harness across multiple modules, particularly STO, SEI, or CCM.
Policy-as-code experience (OPA/Rego or comparable).
Cloud cost management or FinOps practice ownership; showback or chargeback implementation.
Applied generative AI or agentic development patterns to real engineering workflows, including governance.
Architecture leadership for large-scale API ecosystems, partner platforms, or merchant-facing onboarding.
PCI DSS-aligned controls, IAM, or fraud/risk integration experience.
Hands-on with .NET, Java, Go, or Node.js; GitHub or Atlassian toolchain.
