We are looking for a Senior General Ledger Accountant on a contract basis.
Job Summary: Position Overview We are seeking an experienced
Senior GL Accountant to join the Revenue team and support the accounting, reconciliation, and reporting activities related to revenue. This position will work closely with the Senior Revenue Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure revenue transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate has strong general ledger and month-end close experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to analyze revenue-related activity and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions.
Key Responsibilities - Perform general ledger accounting activities related to revenue and revenue-related accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring, accrual, and adjusting entries.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of revenue accounts and related balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze revenue activity and investigate discrepancies between operational systems and the general ledger.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Review revenue transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper accounting treatment.
- Assist with revenue reporting and provide analysis to management.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual revenue activity.
- Assist with account analysis, variance analysis, and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Ensure revenue-related transactions are properly classified and recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Revenue Operations, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and other internal teams to resolve accounting issues.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation to support reconciliations, journal entries, and audit requests.
- Support internal and external audit requests related to revenue and general ledger accounts.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
- Perform other accounting and analytical duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience , with strong general ledger experience.
- Experience supporting revenue accounting, revenue operations, or a revenue-focused accounting team preferred.
- Strong understanding of debits/credits, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience analyzing financial data and researching discrepancies.
- Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Experience working within an ERP or accounting system.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience - Revenue accounting or revenue recognition experience.
- Experience with ASC 606 and revenue-related accounting concepts.
- Experience working with large or complex transaction volumes.
- Experience reconciling data between multiple systems.
- Experience supporting audits and internal controls.
- Experience with process improvement or system implementations.
