Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

This position leads functional design, requirements analysis, codeless BMIDE configuration, workflow design, and user acceptance testing across all of the major PLM task areas such as part and BOM change management, document change management, and integration with CAD, ERP, MES, eQMS, and other IS/IT systems.

The Senior Functional Analyst partners closely with company stakeholders and serves as the principal functional counterpart to the Principal Developer - Teamcenter X, Teamcenter X administrators, infrastructure engineers, and Siemens or systems-integrator partners. The role champions process standardization, GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 alignment, and measurable business outcomes from MSD's PLM investment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with company stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements for product lifecycle, engineering change, document management, and bill-of-material processes.
  • Translate business requirements into Teamcenter functional specifications, solution designs, and configuration approaches; lead fit-gap analysis between as-is and planned processes and Teamcenter X out-of-the-box capabilities.
  • Configure Teamcenter using codeless BMIDE - business objects, item types, revision rules, LOVs, forms, deep-copy rules, GRM relationships, and access manager rules - in accordance with MSD's configuration management and validation requirements.
  • Lead migration from Aras to Teamcenter X. Translate product development and change-control business requirements into configured, validated Teamcenter solutions within a regulated (21 CFR Part 11 / GxP) and ISO 27001-controlled environment.
  • Design and configure Teamcenter X workflows, signoff routes, and EPM handlers for engineering change management (ECM), document approval, and product release processes, including integration touchpoints with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP.
  • Author and maintain functional specifications, configuration specifications, traceability matrices, test protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ), and user procedures consistent with 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and MSD's ISO 27001 controls.
  • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT): build test plans and scripts, coordinate business testers, triage and prioritize defects, and confirm readiness for validation and production release.
  • Support Active Workspace stylesheet, command, and view configuration; partner with the Teamcenter Developer team on declarative UI definitions and on translating business needs into client-side experience requirements.
  • Provide tier-3 functional support for production Teamcenter incidents and service requests; perform root-cause analysis, drive permanent corrective actions, and identify continuous-improvement opportunities.
  • Mentor junior analysts and end-user power-users; deliver training, office hours, and enablement content; serve as the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) in cross-functional steering and governance forums.
  • Contribute to PLM roadmap planning, release planning, and vendor management activities with Siemens and implementation partners; review and validate vendor deliverables against MSD's acceptance criteria.
  • Represent the functional perspective in digital-thread initiatives connecting Teamcenter to downstream consumers (ERP, MES, quality, and analytics platforms), ensuring data integrity, traceability, and process alignment across the product lifecycle.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience as a Teamcenter functional analyst, business analyst, or PLM consultant supporting Siemens Teamcenter (Teamcenter Unified, Teamcenter 11/12/13/14 or later, or Teamcenter X).
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring Teamcenter using BMIDE (codeless), including item types, forms, LOVs, deep-copy rules, GRM relationships, access manager (AM) rules, organization, and project structures.
  • Strong experience configuring Teamcenter workflows (Workflow Designer) and signoff processes for engineering change and document control; familiarity with Change Manager, Schedule Manager, and Classification.
  • Experience leading UAT and validation cycles in a regulated environment (FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, ISO 9001, or comparable); familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ deliverables and traceability matrices.
  • Experience in medical device, life sciences, aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with TCX product configurators, eBOM's, mBOMS, including recipe and process-based BOMs.
  • Siemens Teamcenter certifications (BMIDE, Workflow, AWC) and recognized business analysis credentials (CBAP, PMI-PBA) are a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with Teamcenter integrations to ERP (JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, SAP, or Oracle), MES, and middleware patterns (T4S, T4EA, REST/SOA services) from a requirements and design perspective.
  • Prior exposure to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne integration touchpoints (item master, BOM, change order release) from a functional analysis perspective preferred.
  • Excellent requirements elicitation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills; able to lead workshops with engineers, scientists, manufacturing operators, and quality professionals and produce decision-grade documentation.
  • Strong analytical and process-modeling abilities; able to translate ambiguous business problems into structured functional designs and measurable solution outcomes.
  • Disciplined approach to configuration management, versioning, and validation; understands the difference between configuration and customization and applies the right tool for the right requirement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical Teamcenter concepts for non-technical executive audiences and to author audit-ready documentation.

  • Demonstrated propensity to be creative, collaborative, proactive, and self-motivated in the execution and completion of assigned accountabilities.
  • Ability to provide day to day guidance/mentoring to others in a consistently supportive and collaborative approach.
  • Continuous-learning mindset; tracks Siemens Teamcenter X release content, Active Workspace evolution, and emerging digital-thread and AI-assisted PLM capabilities relevant to MSD's roadmap.
  • Strong critical thinking and sound judgment in handling ambiguous, cross-functional business problems with competing priorities and regulatory constraints.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization and drive consensus on functional designs, process changes, and PLM adoption across diverse stakeholder groups.
