Full Job Description
This is a Senior FPGA Engineer position in the Transport and Switching FPGA team.
  • Architectural / top-level ownership of sophisticated FPGA designs both data path and control
  • Can work with minimal direction, exercises good judgment in achieving project/department goals
  • Aid in project planning
  • Involved in all aspects of FPGA design
  • Conception / architecture
  • Top-level partitioning / backend / constraints
  • RTL coding
  • Verification
  • Lab bringup / debug / validation
  • Work with hardware and software design teams during design and integration phases
  • Work with verif prime to develop verification strategies
  • Work with designers to develop lab test strategies
  • Consult and work with product architects and PLM
  • Demonstrate experience to guide management in technology and design decisions
  • Mentoring of junior team members
  • Identify IP (re-)use both in-house and third party
  • Stay on top of technology and product developments in the FPGA space
  • Evaluation of new tools and processes
  • Attend vendor and industry conferences

What technical experience and personal skills are required for this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • 8 years validated experience as an FPGA/ASIC design engineer
  • Proven technical management of large sophisticated FPGA devices with area and timing challenges
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks/responsibilities at the same time
    Experience/knowledge outside of FPGA: board and/or embedded s/w knowledge an asset
  • Outstanding RTL design skills
  • Detailed understanding of back-end constraints and entry into vendor flow
  • Detailed knowledge of the latest design tools (i.e. Vivado, Quartus)
  • Experience with UVM verification environments
  • Knowledge of transport system design and related protocols (OTN/SONET, Ethernet, etc).
  • Knowledge of protocols such as FC, SDI video, IB, CPRI is an asset
    Verilog/VHDL, SystemVerilog/UVM
  • Scripting (Tcl/Perl)
