Role description:Arcadis is seeking a Fire Protection Federal Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Places Design & Engineering Group. This role requires a fire protection engineer with extensive experience in facility and site design for U.S. federal agencies. The position's location is negotiable based on the candidate.
As the Fire Protection Federal SME, you will collaborate with fire protection engineers, multidisciplinary design teams, project managers, and clients on federal facility design projects. You will lead the fire protection discipline across multiple concurrent projects through pursuit, proposal, design, and construction. Arcadis supports the following federal agencies, among others:

Role accountabilities:- Lead design teams and mentor junior staff in developing coordinated, construction-ready drawing and specification packages.
- Provide project-level leadership for fire alarm, smoke control, fire suppression, life safety analysis, and related design reviews.
- Apply relevant industry standards, building codes, and safety requirements, including NFPA, NEC, NESC, UL, UFC, and UFGS.
- Use design and modeling software, including Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and SpecsIntact.
- Travel to project sites for engineering surveys, fire protection data collection, and collaboration with client teams.
- Design fire protection systems for industrial, commercial, process, electric vehicle assembly, lithium-ion battery manufacturing, data center, and other facilities.
- Develop project budgets, proposals, schedules, project plans, and staffing plans.
- Review designs, documentation, cost estimates, and related materials for compliance with project scope and quality requirements.
- Establish discipline-specific design budgets and ensure work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to professional standards.
- Provide technical contributions within areas of qualification and coordinate quality-control and interdisciplinary reviews.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue potential clients and project opportunities.
- Build professional relationships across federal, state, and local government markets to support business development.
Qualifications & Experience:- U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or fire protection engineering.
- At least 10 years of consulting engineering experience in facility design; 15 or more years preferred.
- Active Professional Engineer license in the United States; licensure in multiple states preferred.
- Extensive experience producing issued-for-construction design packages for federal facilities.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
