It's an exciting time to join Baker Tilly! We're seeking a Financial Analyst/Underwriter to join our Capital Formation team, specializing in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing.

About the Team

Baker Tilly's Capital Formation team helps clients nationwide secure and structure financing for real estate developments and operating businesses. We work with project sponsors to source capital for new construction, acquisitions, rehabilitation projects, business expansions, and other economic development initiatives.

Our NMTC practice is an industry leader with more than 20 years of experience. With professionals located across Illinois, Texas, and Wisconsin, our team partners with for-profit and nonprofit organizations ("Project Sponsors") to secure NMTC allocations, structure complex financing transactions, and maximize available funding. We leverage deep industry expertise and strong relationships with Community Development Entities (CDEs), investors, and lenders to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.

This is a client-facing role offering meaningful responsibility, exposure to complex structured finance transactions, and significant opportunities for professional growth.

At Baker Tilly, you'll join a collaborative team where you'll work on impactful projects, build strong client relationships, and develop your expertise in a highly specialized area of structured finance.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Analyst, you'll work closely with Baker Tilly Principals and Senior Managers to deliver New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) and other structured finance solutions for Project Sponsors. You'll collaborate daily with client executives, lenders, investors, legal counsel, Community Development Entities (CDEs), and other financing partners throughout the transaction lifecycle. Responsibilities include:
  • Deliver high value structured finance consulting to project sponsors
  • Support the structuring of NMTC transactions.
  • Prepare executive summaries and marketing materials to source NMTC allocations and investments.
  • Coordinate with Community Development Entities, investors, lenders, and other financing partners.
  • Assist with sourcing and negotiating financing term sheets.
  • Develop financial models and analyses.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze project due diligence materials.
  • Support project management throughout the financing process.
  • Assist with transaction closing and financing documentation.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree
  • 3 years professional experience


Perferred Qualifications:
  • At least two or more years of experience in finance, lending, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience with NMTCs, commercial lending, or community development financing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and evaluate operating performance.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and continuous professional learning.
  • Willingness to work regularly from a Baker Tilly office, with limited remote flexibility and occasional short-duration travel.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future immigration sponsorship.
