North American Sort centers are part of the Amazon Transportation Services which enables next day free delivery for Prime members and seven days a week delivery for our customers. Sort Centers are part of the middle-mile operation; every day several million packages from multiple fulfillment centers across the US and Canada arrive in one of the ~100 sort centers where they are sorted to specific last mile delivery locations, in effect consolidating volumes going to the same place, which improves truck utilization and reduces transportation costs. Since launching operations in 2013, we have provided billions of dollars of savings to Amazon, improved shipping times for our customers and enabled delivery seven days a week - our growing presence in logistics space led Amazon to be one of the top five logistic operators in the US.
The North American Sort Center team is responsible for the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), investment strategy and new transportation initiatives for this operation. The role focuses on continuous improvement across internal and external stakeholders to define, design and maintain performance measurements, reporting and reviews. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to lead root-cause analysis and uncover core issues to drive cost reductions with stakeholders, manage, evaluate and create meaningful business reporting, and build and maintain complex financial models and analytical tools to measure overall financial performance.

A day in the life
This is an operations finance role. In this position, you will be working directly with site level General Managers, Operations Directors, and support teams like Safety and HR, to drive cost and productivity performance metrics. You will need to be comfortable making quick, two-way door decisions that can have long-lasting impact on the business. A successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of strategic decision making and making data-driven recommendations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA, or CPA
- 3+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
