Working directly at project sites, you will serve as a trusted technical resource for electrical construction activities, providing engineering leadership, resolving complex field challenges, and ensuring electrical systems are installed and commissioned in alignment with project expectations. Purpose of the roleThis role serves as a recognized technical specialist responsible for interpreting electrical designs, supporting field execution, resolving complex technical issues, adapting designs to site conditions, and ensuring construction activities conform to engineering requirements, project specifications, and industry standards. Through close collaboration with engineering, construction, commissioning, and customer teams, you will help ensure safe, reliable, and successful project outcomes.
You will be responsible for- Providing field engineering expertise for electrical construction activities across all phases of project execution.
- Interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation to support construction activities.
- Evaluating field conditions and recommending engineering solutions that maintain design integrity while supporting efficient construction execution.
- Coordinating with engineering, construction, procurement, project controls, quality, and commissioning teams to support project delivery objectives.
- Reviewing and resolving technical queries, requests for information (RFIs), field changes, and engineering challenges that arise during construction.
- Verifying that electrical installation activities conform to approved designs, specifications, codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Providing technical guidance and support to construction supervisors, craft professionals, subcontractors, inspectors, and project teams.
- Supporting constructability reviews, workface planning activities, and construction readiness efforts to improve field productivity and project performance.
- Monitoring construction progress and identifying technical risks, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
- Participating in inspections, testing activities, energization planning, quality reviews, and turnover processes to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Supporting the development and implementation of corrective actions related to engineering, installation, and quality issues.
- Preparing technical reports, engineering assessments, presentations, and recommendations for project leadership and stakeholders.
- Acting as a subject matter expert for electrical engineering matters while mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers and field personnel.
- Supporting pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and system turnover activities to ensure successful project completion.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering effectiveness, construction execution, and project performance.
What you'll bring to the role You are a highly capable engineering professional with strong electrical construction experience and a proven ability to resolve complex technical challenges in dynamic field environments. You combine sound engineering judgment with practical construction knowledge and excel at collaborating across multidisciplinary project teams.
Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent trade qualification supported by relevant technical training and experience.
- Typically 7+ years of relevant experience with an engineering degree or 12+ years of relevant experience supported by a trade qualification.
- Demonstrated experience supporting electrical construction activities on industrial, energy, chemicals, mining, infrastructure, power generation, LNG, petrochemical, manufacturing, or major capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power distribution systems, electrical equipment installation, construction methodologies, and field engineering practices.
- Experience interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and technical documentation.
- Proven ability to evaluate field conditions and develop practical engineering solutions that support safe and efficient project execution.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, quality requirements, inspection practices, testing procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting installation and commissioning of switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, substations, grounding systems, cable tray systems, and power distribution equipment.
- Knowledge of construction quality processes, energization planning, electrical testing, and system turnover activities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence technical and operational decisions.
- Experience preparing and delivering technical reports, presentations, and engineering recommendations to project teams and management.
- Proficiency with engineering software, document management systems, project controls tools, and construction management platforms.

- Ability to mentor team members and provide technical guidance across multidisciplinary project environments.
