Senior Estimator The Senior Estimator leads large, complex, and mission-critical estimating efforts while serving as a subject matter expert in systems, pricing strategy, and risk management. This role plays a key part in aligning project pursuits with company profitability goals and long-term business strategy, while also supporting team development and cross-functional collaboration.
What You Will be Doing: - Lead estimating efforts for large-scale, high-risk, and complex projects
- Develop conceptual estimates and budgets with limited design information
- Establish labor strategies, productivity assumptions, and risk mitigation plans
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to identify requirements and risks
- Review and approve estimates prepared by other estimators
- Identify risks, assumptions, and cost-saving opportunities within estimates
- Coordinate and negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Collaborate with operations, project managers, and leadership throughout project pursuits
- Represent the estimating team in planning discussions, customer meetings, and negotiations
- Incorporate historical cost data and productivity analysis into estimates
- Track project budgets and compare estimated vs. actual costs for continuous improvement
- Maintain organized estimate documentation and backup files
- Support awarded projects, including change orders and credits
- Mentor and support development across the estimating team
- Ensure compliance with company standards, policies, and core values
Key Experience to Hit the Ground Running: - 10+ years of complex estimating experience, preferably in electrical commercial construction
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction systems and industry practices
- Advanced proficiency in Accubid and estimating techniques
- Advanced understanding of NEC requirements
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet bid deadlines
- Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and logical problem-solving abilities
