Full Job Description
Position Summary

Zachry Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to prepare accurate and timely estimates for heavy highway, road, and bridge project bids and proposals. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in coordinating with project teams, reviewing plans and specifications, and developing comprehensive estimates that support project success. This position will also be involved in daily estimating activities and may assist with project scheduling, cost analysis, and preconstruction planning.

What You'll Do
  • Assist the estimating team through all stages of the estimating process.
  • Develop green sheets and delegate estimating assignments to team members.
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other bid documentation.
  • Prepare thorough, accurate, and timely estimates in accordance with company standards.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate conditions and potential project challenges.
  • Verify and review take-offs to ensure quantity accuracy and cost alignment.
  • Incorporate historical cost data, subcontractor quotes, and productivity reports into estimates.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers regarding project details, scope, and pricing.
  • Develop preliminary project schedules using Primavera P6 based on plans and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team and management to finalize and close estimates.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and support bid reviews as needed.

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in large heavy/highway construction projects.
  • Experience with all phases of construction including structures, bridges, underground, earthwork, and concrete paving.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Previous field operations experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and organizational skills; detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Hard Dollar and Primavera P6 is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Terra Model, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and HCSS (Heavy Bid) is a plus.
  • Flexibility and willingness to relocate for assigned projects as needed.
