Job Description:The Senior Estimator's role is to coordinate estimating efforts of a team of estimators, manage higher complexity of estimating bids and provide guidance and direction in a supervisory capacity. The position will work closely alongside Senior Project Managers to assist in streamline estimating functions as it aligns with the needs of the business.
A Day in the Life- Review and delegate incoming estimating duties to team members while managing more complex bids.
- Manage client relationships and create business development opportunities to growth the enterprise.
- Provide final review and quality control over bids completed by team of estimators, prior to submission.
- Reviews plans and specifications to determine the scope of the work required for the project.
- Reviews jobsites before bidding to make appropriate estimates.
- Completes accurate takeoffs and estimates utilizing HCSS software for various aspects of each project.
- Calculates quantities (square yard, linear feet, cubic yard, each, etc.) for each project to factor materials needed and material movement.
- Solicits quotes from subcontractors for bid preparation and final numbers. Keeps DBE/MBE requirements in mind with subcontractor invitations to bid.
- Collects quotes on materials required for the project.
- Constructs the bid by adding activities (work to be completed), crews and equipment, adjusting production rates.
- Prints out bid proposals to create proposal. Sends/delivers to owner or general contractor of each bid in the time frame required.
- Determines results of bids by contacting General Contractors or communication from the bid runner for publicly awarded jobs.
- Works alongside the Project Manager, managing the project, after the job is awarded.
- Partners with and mentors junior project staff and assists them in the understanding and execution of estimating.
- Functions as a leader in estimating efforts for projects.
- Works towards advancing and improving estimating operations.
- Preliminary Engineering Design and Review of project elements for deep foundation, retention and other project elements to assist in the estimation effort.
- Other duties or tasks as assigned by Management.
What You'll Need- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Construction Management or Civil Engineering from four-year college or university; or minimum of 10 years' experience bidding and estimating projects; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Construction Bidding and Project Management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to work with all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates. Must clearly communicate directions and information.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, clients, and/or regulatory agencies.
- Ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of situations and events and respond accordingly. Ability to seek counsel, when needed and use a variety of resources.
- Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
What Will Set You Apart- Working knowledge of HCSS software.
- Working knowledge of Excel.
- Working knowledge of DeepEx / DeepFnd or similar preliminary design software
Supervisory Responsibility- Manages a small team of Estimators I and II.
- Oversee, mentor, and develop providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high levels of efficiency and effectiveness.
- Hire, train, develop and review all direct reports. Takes disciplinary action as necessary, on a timely basis, and in accordance with company policy.
- Ensures new hires are properly trained and employees are cross trained within the department to support continuous employee development.
Other- Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record
- Occasional travel and overnight stays to jobsites and client meetings (10%)

Additional Job Description:Base Compensation: $100,000 - $133,500
The base salary range may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
