Position DescriptionThe Senior Estimator leads the preparation of detailed cost estimates and bid strategies for complex heavy civil construction projects, including roadway, utilities, earthwork, concrete paving, and infrastructure work. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, this role is responsible for developing comprehensive estimates, managing subcontractor and vendor pricing, evaluating project risks, and ensuring a smooth transition from estimating through project startup.
The Senior Estimator plays a key leadership role within the estimating department by mentoring junior staff, supporting department strategy, assisting with project buyout and initial budgets, and driving accuracy, efficiency, and profitability across all bids.
Position Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure construction means and methods.
- Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek Earthwork 4D, Bluebeam Revu, or similar tools.
- Strong experience building project budgets, performing buyout, and risk assessment.
- Advanced analytical skills related to labor, equipment, material, and production rates.
- Proven ability to mentor and lead estimators.
- Strong collaboration with operations teams during project handoff.
- Ability to develop estimating strategies and improve department processes.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
