Full Job Description
Why Hover wants you

Today, contractors juggle a stack of disconnected tools to run their business: a CRM, a measurement app, an estimating tool, a photo app. Hover already owns the measurement. Now we're building the estimate, the step that turns a completed scope into a signed deal.

We just launched a major update to our estimation product, and it's showing early signs of success with enterprise customers testing it in the real world. You'll lead the team that takes it further, building an estimating product that stands on its own, tightly integrated with Hover's measurements and our 3D generative AI interaction product. It sits on top of Hover's property data, where we're giving contractors and adjusters new ways to see a property and derive the work to be done from it.
You will contribute by

You'll own the roadmap for Hover's estimating product line end to end, making the case for what wins with enterprise customers rather than shipping a feature list. That means defining and moving two connected but distinct use cases, retail and restoration/insurance claims, without forking the product, the roadmap, or the team. You'll manage the Estimates team directly (six engineers today) and partner weekly with a standing product, design, and data group to keep everyone shipping toward one agreed direction.

On the technical side, you'll lead the move to a more flexible estimating engine, one that can take in more kinds of inputs, including what comes out of an inspection or assessment, without forking logic per use case. You'll also reduce the cost of maintaining the estimates system we already have, including an in-flight consolidation into the main application, favoring removal of legacy functionality over building around it, and partner with the catalog team to build a standalone pricing function so a Hover estimate can carry its own pricing. Along the way, you'll sit directly in front of the enterprise customers whose workflows are shaping this roadmap, and hire and grow the team as scope expands.
Your background includes
  • 10+ years in software engineering, including 4+ managing engineering teams, with real ownership over a product line's roadmap rather than execution against someone else's plan.
  • A full cycle of people management behind you: hiring and leveling, coaching senior engineers, running performance conversations, and promoting people into bigger scope.
  • Experience managing more than one team or focus area at once.
  • Experience managing engineers who've built systems with real pricing, configuration, or rules logic.
  • Technical depth strong enough to make architecture calls and defend them. Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL federation, or Postgres is a plus, not a requirement.
  • AI fluency in how a team builds: a point of view on where generative tooling belongs in the workflow, how to roll it out, and how to tell whether it's actually working.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with estimating, quoting, CPQ, or catalog and pricing platforms in any vertical.
  • Experience taking a product from early traction to something enterprise customers run production work through.
  • Experience with partner, distributor, or third-party integration ecosystems.
  • Background in construction, roofing, restoration, or insurance claims software, including carrier-side estimating and claims acceptance standards.
  • Experience building on 3D, spatial, or computer vision derived data.
Benefits
  • Compensation - Competitive salary and meaningful equity in a fast-growing company
  • Healthcare - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents
  • Paid Time Off - Unlimited and flexible vacation policy
  • Paid Family Leave - We support work/life balance and offer generous paid parental and new child bonding leave
  • Mandatory Self-Care Days - A day set aside each month to allow employees to recharge
  • Remote Wellbeing Resources - We provide recurring fitness classes, meditation/ mindfulness tools, virtual therapy, and family planning assistance
  • Learning - We encourage continued education and will help cover the cost of management training, conferences, workshops, or certifications

In addition to producing floorcare products, Hoover was also an iconic domestic appliance brand in Europe, particularly well known for its washing machines and tumble dryers in the UK and Ireland, and also had significant sales in many parts of Europe. Today, the Hoover Europe brand, as part of the portfolio of brands owned by Chinese multinational home appliances company Haier remains a major player in the European white goods and floor care sectors in a number of countries.
