OverviewPosition Summary
Rocket Pharmaceuticals is seeking a motivated Senior Engineer, IT - GxP Infrastructure & Systems to support and maintain the enterprise infrastructure that powers our research, manufacturing, quality, clinical, and corporate systems.
This position is responsible for administering servers, virtualization platforms, storage, networking, cloud services, identity management, cybersecurity platforms, backup infrastructure, and enterprise systems while ensuring all infrastructure supporting regulated environments remains secure, highly available, and compliant with GxP requirements.
Working closely with QA, CSV, Security, Technical Support, and Business System Owners, this individual will participate in infrastructure projects, lifecycle management, change control, system upgrades, preventative maintenance, disaster recovery, and operational support while helping drive infrastructure modernization and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain infrastructure supporting GxP and enterprise business systems.
- Manage VMware vSphere environments, including VMware vCenter, ESXi 8 hosts, virtual machines, templates, snapshots, resource allocation, and lifecycle management.
- Administer Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise identity services.
- Support Okta Identity and Access Management, including directory synchronization, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), lifecycle management, and authentication troubleshooting.
- Administer Druva backup and disaster recovery solutions, including backup monitoring, replication, restore testing, and disaster recovery validation.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus switching infrastructure, Cisco Meraki switches, wireless infrastructure, security appliances, and cloud-managed networking.
- Deploy operating system, application, and GxP system patches and other enterprise management tools, ensuring updates are completed in accordance with approved change management, validation, and cybersecurity procedures.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, networking equipment, backup systems, and supporting infrastructure to maximize system availability and reliability.
- Monitor enterprise infrastructure health, capacity, availability, and performance using monitoring and alerting platforms while proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues involving virtualization, storage, networking, authentication, cloud services, enterprise applications, and supporting systems.
- Participate in change management activities by implementing infrastructure changes in accordance with GxP, validation, cybersecurity, and quality procedures.
- Create and maintain infrastructure documentation, architecture diagrams, SOPs, work instructions, disaster recovery documentation, and technical standards.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and rotating on-call support for critical infrastructure services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- 4-6 years of experience administering and supporting enterprise infrastructure, preferably within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other GxP-regulated environment.
- Industry certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Okta Certified Administrator, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet Certified Associate (FCA), CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or ITIL Foundation are considered a plus.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server, VMware vSphere (vCenter and ESXi), Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise identity management platforms including Okta.
- Experience administering enterprise servers, storage, backup, and endpoint management solutions, including Lenovo ThinkSystem servers, Lenovo/NetApp storage, Druva, NinjaOne, Microsoft Intune, or comparable technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise networking and security technologies, including Cisco Nexus, Cisco Meraki, Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, TCP/IP, routing, switching, wireless networking, and CrowdStrike Falcon endpoint security.
- Experience deploying operating systems, infrastructure, and GxP system patches, performing preventative maintenance, infrastructure lifecycle management, disaster recovery testing, and technology refresh activities.
- Experience using ServiceNow or a similar IT Service Management (ITSM) platform, with knowledge of infrastructure change management and operational support processes.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages, infrastructure automation, cGMP, GxP, Computer System Validation (CSV), data integrity principles, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
- Experience supporting validated infrastructure within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated environment, with a strong understanding of GxP compliance, Computer System Validation (CSV), data integrity, and audit readiness.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outside of standard business hours on an occasional basis to support GxP activities, system implementations, upgrades, maintenance activities, audits, inspections, and critical issue resolution.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull equipment and materials weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety, security, and GxP requirements while working in regulated environments
- Ability to work in both office and regulated laboratory, manufacturing, and data center environments.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $133,000.

For U.S.-based candidates, this is an at-will position, and Rocket reserves the right to adjust the range at hire or during the year due to market shifts.
