Job Mission

The Senior Engineer (II), Systems Engineering is a technical leader responsible for the development, integration, qualification, and deployment of advanced sensor technologies across ASM product platforms. This role focuses on transforming sensor data into actionable insights by driving sensor architecture, data acquisition strategies, signal analysis, and data-driven decision-making.

Working closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, Software, Process, and Manufacturing Engineering teams, this individual will define sensor requirements, integrate sensing technologies into complex equipment, and develop analytical methods that improve process understanding, equipment performance, and product outcomes.

This position requires strong systems thinking, expertise in sensor technologies and data analytics, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary projects from concept through deployment.

What You Will Be Working On

Sensor Systems Leadership
  • Lead the development and integration of advanced sensor technologies for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Define sensor architecture, performance requirements, interfaces, and validation strategies.
  • Evaluate and select sensing technologies for process monitoring, equipment health monitoring, and advanced control applications.
  • Drive sensor system design reviews focused on performance, scalability, and robustness.
  • Identify emerging sensor technologies and assess their applicability to future ASM products.


Sensor Integration & Data Acquisition
  • Lead integration of sensors with hardware, firmware, software, and control systems.
  • Develop and implement data acquisition architectures for collecting high-quality sensor data.
  • Define calibration, synchronization, and validation methodologies for multi-sensor systems.
  • Support integration of optical, thermal, pressure, flow, plasma, gas, vibration, acoustic, and environmental sensors.
  • Establish best practices for sensor characterization, performance evaluation, and deployment.


Data Analytics & Insight Generation
  • Develop data analysis methodologies to extract meaningful insights from sensor and equipment datasets.
  • Apply statistical analysis, signal processing, and machine learning techniques to identify patterns and correlations.
  • Analyze process and equipment data to improve product performance, process understanding, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and health-monitoring metrics for sensor-enabled systems.
  • Generate data-driven recommendations that influence product design and technology roadmaps.


Product Development & Program Leadership
  • Lead sensor technology development projects from concept through qualification and release.
  • Define verification and validation plans for sensor-enabled subsystems.
  • Drive proof-of-concept studies and technology demonstrations for next-generation sensing solutions.
  • Coordinate technical activities across multiple development programs and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and technology partners to evaluate and qualify new sensor solutions.


Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Process, Software, Firmware, Electrical, Mechanical, and Product Engineering teams to deploy sensor solutions.
  • Work closely with data scientists and software engineers to operationalize sensor data.
  • Support customer-facing activities requiring sensor characterization, performance analysis, and technology assessments.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering leadership and business stakeholders.


Mentorship & Technical Leadership
  • Mentor engineers in sensor technologies, systems engineering, and data analytics methodologies.
  • Promote best practices for sensor integration, experimental design, and data analysis.
  • Lead technical working groups focused on sensor innovation and advanced monitoring capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sensor development processes and analytical workflows.


Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in sensor systems, system integration, data acquisition, process diagnostics, or related engineering functions.
  • Experience integrating sensors into complex hardware systems.
  • Experience with data analysis, signal processing, and statistical methods.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, Minitab, or similar platforms.
  • Experience designing and executing experiments for sensor characterization and validation.
  • Strong systems-level problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related technical field.
  • Experience with semiconductor equipment and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with optical sensors, spectroscopy, machine vision, imaging systems, gas sensing, plasma diagnostics, or environmental monitoring.
  • Experience with edge computing, Industrial IoT, and connected sensor systems.
  • Experience with machine learning, predictive analytics, and large-scale data processing.
  • Experience developing sensor-driven control strategies and process monitoring solutions.
  • Knowledge of database systems, cloud analytics platforms, and data infrastructure.
