Microchip's Frequency and Time Systems (FTS) business unit is a world leader in precise time solutions and sets the world's standard for time. Our work distributes and applies precise time for the communications, aerospace, defense, IT infrastructure, and metrology industries. Frequency and Timing Systems is expanding our business in global timescales, digital signal processing, satellite communications, airborne timing, and navigation systems.

Microchip FTS's Boulder, CO location, is seeking a Senior Product Engineer I in our Frequency and Time Systems team. This position is a fit for someone that enjoys technical achievement, cooperative research, never ending chances to learn, and a friendly team environment. You will participate in a wide variety of multi-disciplinary projects and contribute to all phases of the full design lifecycle - with a focus on new product introduction, transitioning products from research and development to full scale manufacturing.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead new product introduction (NPI) process, supporting design teams from concept development through the release to production (RTP)
  • Provide daily technical support to the manufacturing line to troubleshoot product issues
  • Apply design for x (DFX) principles in support of new product development, and sustainment of released products
  • Perform failure analysis to identify root cause and drive improvements through sustaining engineering
  • Support products through the full product lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, development, test, and sustainment
  • This in-office position is located in Boulder, Colorado and may require some occasional travel


Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years of industry experience in new product introduction (NPI), engineering design, manufacturing engineering, and/or test engineering
  • Knowledge of PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Understanding of electronic circuits, including: analog, RF, and digital circuitry
  • Experience working across full product life cycle from prototype and mass production to end of life.
  • Experience with hardware bill of materials (BOMs), process documentation, and assembly and test processes
  • US Citizenship Required - ITAR Site

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in CAD software for PCBA and mechanical designs (PADS, Altium, SolidWorks)
  • Familiarity with design for x (DFX) principles
  • Proficiency with electronics lab equipment including: multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, spectrum analyzers
  • Experience programming in LabVIEW and Python

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
