Job Description:Microchip is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join the USB and Networking business unit (UNG).
The job responsibilities include:
- Develop and support evaluation platform PCBs for PCIe and USB products
- Support of Linux, Windows and RTOS drivers for Microchip USB/PCIe to Ethernet bridges and PCIe switch products.
- Planning and coordinating the development/sustaining maintenance for Windows, Linux, RTOS and MacOS drivers.
- Develop collateral such as application notes, data sheets, reference designs, and other activities for new product development.
- Develop and present technical training such as webinars, hands-on workshops, etc. to customers, sales and field application engineers.
- Provide direct technical support to sales and field application engineers as well as key strategic customers.
- Work in a team environment and interact with Design, Product /Test and Marketing teams.
- Work with Marketing and Sales team to identify new applications and market spaces and assist in the definition of new products.
Requirements/Qualifications:• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or equivalent discipline with 5 years of experience.
• Demonstrated experience with PCIe, Ethernet, and high-speed signaling technologies.
• Work experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C,UART etc
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce good quality engineering documentation.
• Strong understanding of C/C++ , scripting languages like python, shell
• Strong understanding of electrical system design including mixed signal circuits.
• Basic understanding of embedded software/firmware design.
• Basic understanding of Linux development and developer community.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in electrical engineering.
• Experience in technical training development and presentation.
• Experience in direct customer service and support.
• Experience in working with high speed signals such as USB, PCIe, Ethernet, etc.
• Experience in directly designing electrical circuits/system design/reference designs.
• Experience with software based PCB design.
• Experience with programming in embedded assembly and Python languages
• Experience in working with Lab equipment like function generators, power supplies and oscilloscopes.
• Experience in working with hardware and Microcontroller based designs
• Experience in trouble shooting hardware and software issues

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,000 - $205,000.*
*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
