Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer role at PDG involves a range of responsibilities. This includes creating plans using AutoCAD and/or REVIT, simulating lighting and power flow, designing building electrical systems, coordinating schedules, reviewing work, editing specifications, interacting with clients, developing proposals, and preparing scopes and budgets for design projects. This role comes with ability to work independently without supervision or guidance.
The minimum requirements for the Senior Electrical Engineer position at PDG include advanced knowledge of electrical circuit theory, design, and building power distribution. Applicants must demonstrate adaptability to non-routine problems, a minimum of ten years of experience in designing building electrical systems, and hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET Accredited program.
Responsibilities- Creation of plans using AutoCAD and/or REVIT with general review.
- Simulation of lighting and power flow using selected software packages.
- Design of large sections of building electrical systems for both new and renovated buildings including power, lighting, fire alarm, data/computer and other special systems.
- Coordinating schedules and assigns tasks to and review work of Technicians, Junior Engineers and Engineers.
- Advanced ability to edit specifications from standard libraries.
- Provide general and Quality Control review of other electrical Technicians and Engineers.
- Interact with client and assist with communication and contracts regarding clients including presentations and project meetings.
- Develop proposals for future work with prospective clients.
- Prepare scope, budgets and schedules for complete design projects.
- Advanced working knowledge of electrical circuit theory and design and building power distribution.
- Advanced understanding of computer network systems and associated communications infrastructure within buildings.
- Advanced understanding of signals / controls including SCADA systems.
- Develop and coordinate complete electrical and control design of projects utilizing other electrical Technicians and Engineers.
- Proficient technical Report Writing Ability with fluency using the English Language.
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CAD Proficiency in both AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Familiarity and knowledge of the National Electric Code (N.E.C. / NFPA 70).
- Familiarity and knowledge with the NYS Building Code and reference codes.
- Ability to learn new skills to learn new skills and adapt to non-routine problems.
- Advanced knowledge & experience with lighting technologies for buildings.
- Ability to learn new skills and adapt to non-routine problems and new technologies.
- Ability to work without supervision.
Experience, Certification, and Education- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program.
- Registration as a NYS Professional Engineer (PE)
- A Valid Driver's License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in design of building electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm and special systems.
Work Environment- Travel between PDG offices (Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton, Buffalo, NYC), as well as to project sites will be required on occasion.
- Interact with client and assist with communication and contracts regarding clients.
Physical Demands- The job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
- Travel will be required within NY State.
Good faith salary range is provided, and salary package will be commensurate with experience.

$125,000-$150,000
