The Senior Development Engineer is responsible for leading medical device development from concept through sustaining, solving complex engineering problems, and improving products and processes. The role collaborates with suppliers and cross-functional partners, leads small projects, and provides technical guidance to less experienced colleagues.
This position reports to the Director, Engineering and is part of the Engineering team located in Cincinnati, Ohio and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Lead product and process development activities in partnership with suppliers, manufacturing engineers, design engineers, and cross-functional teams.
- Drive design for manufacturing and assembly efforts, incorporating findings to optimize product designs and production readiness.
- Qualify components, manufacturing processes, and assembly systems through validation activities while supporting risk mitigation and design reviews.
- Investigate product and process issues through root cause analysis, develop prototypes and test methods, and maintain engineering documentation and design controls.
- Support innovation, product lifecycle planning, project execution, and engineering excellence through technical leadership, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The essential requirements of the job include:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a technical discipline.
- Demonstrated progression of engineering experience in product development, manufacturing, or related technical disciplines. Preferred candidates will possess 8 or more years of relevant engineering experience, including 4 or more years supporting product development and manufacturing activities.
- Experience developing products within regulated or highly technical industries and applying quality and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Prior experience in medical device development, including design for manufacturability and regulatory compliance, is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience solving moderately complex engineering problems and leading small projects.
- Experience with process validation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and root cause analysis.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:- Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally; typical assignments may require overnight, out-of-town stays of 2 to 5 days.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:- Master's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Advanced certification such as Six Sigma or Project Management Professional.

The annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
