Full Job Description
As Senior Engineer, Bulk Gas, you will be essential to our growth, guiding technical efforts for extensive gas production, storage, supply, and distribution systems that support significant semiconductor construction projects. You will coordinate third-party development work from concept through detailed plans and construction assistance. You will make sure systems fulfill Micron's strict criteria for safety, capacity, reliability, maintainability, and long-term expansion.
Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate third-party engineering development of bulk gas generation, cryogenic storage, vaporization, compression, pressure-control, and delivery frameworks.
• Establish and review build criteria, basis-of-build documents, system architecture, PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, specifications, equipment requirements, controls, and system layouts.
• Evaluate gas demand, system capacity, equipment sizing, storage autonomy, pressure drop, purity, reliability, and future expansion requirements.
• Lead technical, constructability, risk, and interdisciplinary build reviews, ensuring compliance with Micron standards and applicable requirements including ASME B31.3, NFPA 2, NFPA 55, CGA mentorship, IFC provisions, and pressure-vessel codes.
• Provide technical direction to engineering firms, gas suppliers, vendors, and project teams while supporting build changes, procurement, BIM coordination, and construction execution.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with bulk or industrial gas, cryogenic systems, semiconductor facilities, or related process utility systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing projects built by engineering firms, EPC contractors, industrial gas suppliers, or equipment vendors.
• Experience reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, engineering calculations, specifications, control narratives, equipment data sheets, and 3D models, and understanding of applicable codes and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration and familiarity with large-scale gas infrastructure for semiconductor fabs, manufacturing facilities, or other high-purity environments.
• Experience with nitrogen generation, cryogenic liquid storage, hydrogen and helium systems, gas compression, automatic source changeover, and supplier-owned equipment interfaces.
• Experience developing capacity models, phased infrastructure plans, inventing criteria, engineering specifications, and standards for large-scale or multi-phase manufacturing campuses.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM coordination, clash detection, pipe-rack integration, and multidisciplinary model reviews.
• Experience working with Agentic AI tools to assist with building and verification.
