Job DescriptionPosition Overview:This position is responsible for providing technical leadership, innovation, and project engineering regarding machine, process and design in order to ensure products satisfy cost, timing and performance requirements. A strong background in injection molding related to part design, tooling, processing, materials and secondary manufacturing operations, is required.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties: - Successfully manage and execute engineering, innovation and development projects
- Collaborate with applicable teams to define project scope
- Determine project objectives, create and maintain timelines, outline project requirements, assign tasks, and oversee progress
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, with all deliverables satisfied
- Establish and lead relationships with customers from a technical and design perspective
- Lead design reviews with vendors, customers and Amcor plants
- Demonstrate strong subject matter expertise specific to injection molding projects
- Review and / or initiate new business opportunities, primarily related to injection molding
- Specify and quote injection equipment and tooling
- Work with customers and internal resources to ensure optimized part design for injection molding
- Interface with operations to ensure product, tooling and manufacturing aspects satisfy operational requirements
- Work with operations to develop foundational processes
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to product, process, deliverables, timing and manufacturing
- Work with applicable teams to successfully deliver products for plant handoff
- Train and empower others and provide guidance to team members
- Maintain current knowledge of technical innovations through research, conferences, training, and industry contacts
Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Requires 6-8 years of relevant engineering and injection molding experience
- Experience in small-part injection molding with a preference towards manufacturing pharmaceutical and medical device products, child-resistant closures, triggers, sprayers, applicators, and secondary operations such as decoration, assembly, etc.
- Capable of process optimization using scientific molding principles
- Requires the ability to explain the implications of engineering work.
- Travel 20%
