Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Senior Electronics Systems Integration & Validation Engineer is responsible for leading the integration, system-level verification and validation, and deployment of complex electronic, embedded software, firmware, FPGA, and control systems for photonic quantum computing platforms. This role develops integration strategies, test methodologies, and validation processes to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and operational readiness requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration, bring-up, verification, and validation of complex electronic, embedded software, firmware, FPGA, and control subsystems for photonic quantum computing platforms.
  • Define and execute system integration, verification, and test strategies, including acceptance criteria, validation methodologies, and automated test frameworks to ensure system performance, reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Develop and execute system-level test plans in collaboration with Optical, Software, and Quantum Engineering teams to verify and validate hardware, firmware, software, detector readout, data-acquisition, timing, and control interfaces.
  • Integrate and validate single-photon detector readout, high-speed digitizers, photonic integrated circuit (PIC) multiplexing systems, timing and synchronization electronics, and data-acquisition subsystems for photonic quantum computing platforms.
  • Drive root-cause investigations and technical problem resolution through structured, data-driven debugging across hardware, firmware, software, and control interfaces.
  • Validate hardware, firmware, and embedded software releases, and develop diagnostics, health-monitoring tools, and automation to improve integration efficiency, test coverage, and system reliability.
  • Develop and maintain integration procedures, validation protocols, work instructions, and technical documentation supporting manufacturing, deployment, and field support.
  • Collaborate closely with Software, Firmware, Electronics, Optical, and Test Engineering teams to resolve integration issues, improve system performance, and support product maturity.
  • Mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership during integration and validation activities, and drive continuous improvement of system integration, verification, and test methodologies.

Experience/Qualifications:
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience; or B.S. with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating, verifying, validating, and troubleshooting complex electronic systems, including embedded software, firmware, FPGA-based systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Experience developing and executing system integration, verification, validation, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), production bring-up, and structured root-cause analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed digitizers, detector readout systems, data-acquisition systems, timing and synchronization electronics, FPGA-based instrumentation, or comparable high-performance electronic measurement and test platforms.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces, communication protocols, and system-level debugging across hardware, firmware, software, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for test automation, diagnostics, instrumentation control, and data analysis.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, FPGA interface documentation, system architecture diagrams, and engineering specifications.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to lead technical investigations and make sound engineering decisions in fast-paced development environments.
  • Experience with photonic integrated circuits (PICs), single-photon detector systems, laser and fiber-optic systems, cryogenic instrumentation, or quantum technologies is highly desirable.
