Full Job Description
Keystone Engineering is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for an on-site client support position.

Position Type: Full-time

Location: Port Arthur, TX (client on-site position)

Work Environment: 9/80 schedule in the office/field working Monday-Friday. May work additional hours and days, including weekends and holidays as required.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel is anticipated in this role.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products.
  • Direct or coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, preventative and predictive maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
  • Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, or domestic purposes.
  • Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications.
  • Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Plan or implement research methodology or procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Provide various reports as needed.
  • Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation for the company.
  • Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Engineering &Technology:Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment including but not limited to 13.2kv, 4160v, 480v, transformer, switch gear, brakers and relays, over current protection, motors, etc.
  • Advanced Engineering Expertise: Deep knowledge of electrical engineering principles and their application in a continuous-process industrial environment, with the ability to make complex technical decisions impacting safety, reliability, and business performance.
  • Electrical Distribution Systems Leadership: Recognized expertise in medium- and low-voltage power systems (13.2kV, 4160V, 480V), including transformers, switchgear, breakers, protective relays, and motor control systems. Ability to serve as a technical authority for system design, operation, and long-term strategy.
  • System Reliability & Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to lead root cause investigations, resolve complex and recurring electrical issues, and implement sustainable solutions that improve asset reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize lifecycle cost.
  • Power System Protection & Risk Management: Strong working knowledge of protective relaying, coordination studies, short circuit analysis, and arc flash hazards. Capable of setting protection philosophy and ensuring alignment with safe and reliable plant operation.
  • Codes, Standards, & Governance: Expert-level understanding of applicable electrical codes and industry standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE), with the ability to interpret, apply, and enforce requirements across design, maintenance, and operational activities.
  • Capital Projects & Lifecycle Asset Management: Proven ability to lead or provide technical oversight for electrical scope in capital and maintenance projects, including design review, equipment selection, commissioning, and management of change, aligned with lifecycle asset management principles.
  • Cross-Functional Influence & Leadership: Ability to influence and align engineering, operations, maintenance, and contractors to drive timely and effective execution of solutions, while maintaining accountability and high performance across teams.
  • Strategic Thinking & Continuous Improvement: Ability to identify systemic issues, challenge existing practices, and drive improvements that enhance long-term plant reliability, operability, and safety performance.
  • Safety Leadership: Strong commitment to process safety and electrical safety, with the ability to identify risk, challenge unsafe conditions, and lead by example in establishing and maintaining a safe operating culture


Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working in the industry required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent electrical engineering required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel required.
  • Security Clearance Requirements: Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and also identify and rank business and safety risks.
  • Demonstrate Visible Leadership at a supported asset base.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and solution advocate.

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Experience in the chemical or oil/energy industry preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move more than 20 pounds.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
