Senior Electrical EngineerThe Position: Reporting to the Maintenance & Projects Engineer Superintendent, the primary duties of this position is to provide electrical engineering support to the production and maintenance groups to ensure production can achieve their committed tonnage for the year in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. This can be done directly through field engineering support or indirectly through process or reliability improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in audits when requested, especially if they relate to GHG & energy reduction;
- Report on a monthly basis the energy performance of the plant electrical and natural gas consumption and the mobile equipment fleet, gasoline consumption;
- Responsible for producing annual energy budget for electricity and natural gas, reconciliation of the budget and explaining variances;
- Provide recommendations for energy savings opportunities and support / assist energy efficiency officer on all cost reduction savings initiatives;
- Support HSEC activities for new equipment installations and modifications;
- Maintain critical controls on key environmental systems;
- Provide technical support to both operations and maintenance through effective use of work order system;
- provide technical support to maintain equipment availability targets and operational process requirements;
- Identify plant deficiencies and seek technical support where required;
- Provide cost management and reduction;
- Provide technical training and coaching for trades, operations and tech support resources as required;
- Provide and maintain programming standard for the site;
- Identify critical spares requirements, service contracts and obsolescence issues;
- Utilize professional &technical specialist services as required to support efficient problem investigation and resolution;
- Provide energy management-NIERP reporting & Support safety programs such as PASS.
Skills and Qualifications:The ideal Candidate will have:
- Professional Engineering degree or at minimum, a relevant technical diploma from a recognized Canadian college (Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical or Mining);
- Previous experience working in an underground mine setting/environment;
- Knowledge of engineering standards (IEEE,NEC,NESC,ANSI,IEC) environmental regulations, guides and codes;
- Effective verbal and written communication skill & formidable organizational and detail orientation skills;
- Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office);
- Basic skills in performing computer-based design using AutoCAD & effective project management skills;
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work within multi-disciplinary teams.
Compensation and Benefits:Competitive total compensation package including:
