Full Job Description

IMEG is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support and grow our Healthcare market in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will lead electrical design efforts for moderate to complex building projects, delivering engineering analysis, system design, and construction-phase support for healthcare facilities.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, manage client relationships, and help deliver innovative, code-compliant electrical solutions that align with project goals and client expectations. Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, design, and documentation of electrical systems in accordance with applicable codes and IMEG standards
  • Perform site assessments and develop technical analyses, calculations, and reports
  • Collaborate with clients to define requirements, communicate technical solutions, and build strong working relationships
  • Conduct design reviews and apply IMEG quality control processes to ensure technical excellence and compliance
  • Mentor and develop staff while providing technical guidance and resolving field issues as needed
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to support innovation
  • Prioritize safety and proactively identify and mitigate electrical system risks
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Support project interviews and presentations

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Preferred TechStreet, MadCAD and eSPECS
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
