Full Job Description
We're hiring a Senior Network Installation Technician for a travel-based contract supporting Camp Smith, in Oahu, Hawaii-DoW secret clearance required. Bring your expertise to paradise and lead the build-out of secure infrastructure that keeps critical missions connected. PEAKE is seeking a Senior Network Installation Technician with deep, hands-on expertise in CAT6 and fiber optic structured cabling systems to lead and support an on-site installation team at Camp Smith, Oahu, Hawaii. In this role, you will work directly with network designers and engineers, take ownership of installation quality and job-site execution, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level technicians supporting mission-critical network infrastructure. We are looking for a technician who brings advanced field experience, sound judgment under minimal supervision, and the ability to troubleshoot complex installation issues independently. Ideal candidates have a strong command of both CAT 6 and fiber cabling disciplines, are comfortable owning tasks in fast-paced, high-security field environments, and are ready to help set the technical standard for the team. Work Location & Schedule This is a travel-based onsite assignment at Camp Smith, Oahu, Hawaii, supporting a mission-critical network installation project. Work is performed in 6 weeks on/2 weeks off, with the option to continue rotating through the year. Schedule is five 10-hour days per week (50 hours), with overtime paid at time and a half. Perks • Daily per diem (lodging + M&I) fully covered • All transportation costs, including travel home between rotations, fully covered • Overtime paid at time and a half • PTO available to use as it's earned Clearance Requirement • U.S. Citizenship required • Active Secret DoW clearance required What You'll Need to Succeed: • 7+ years of relevant experience, including: • Leading or overseeing CAT6 and fiber optic structured cable distribution system installations • Advanced termination of Ethernet and fiber cables across multiple methods; deep familiarity with connector types and manufacturers • Testing and certifying fiber optic installations (single-mode and multi-mode), including advanced troubleshooting with Fluke and OTDR equipment • Installing, terminating, testing, and certifying copper and fiber cabling to industry standard • Directing installation of closet hardware, including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures • Ensuring cable pulling, fire stopping, cable dressing, and labeling meet industry and project standards, with quality-control oversight of team output • Working knowledge of DISA installation guidelines (NIPR, SIPR); preferred experience applying these standards on classified projects • Mentoring junior technicians and supporting on-the-job training • Leading by example in training, safety meetings, and job-site safety practices Additional Requirements • Must be capable of physical activity including maneuvering around the building (comms closets), prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting 50 lbs+ • Willingness to complete company-supported career and professional development training Preferred Qualifications • Security+ certification • BICSI Technician or Installer 2 certification (or higher) preferred • RCDD or progress toward RCDD a plus • Soldering certification, or ability to obtain through company-supported training • Prior experience leading or mentoring installation crews on classified or government projects • Applicable certifications aligned with technical objectives and IT environments PEAKE benefits to employees include: • Opportunity for advancement within the company • Medical/dental/vision insurance • Company-paid life and short- and long-term disability insurance • 3 Weeks Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) plus Holidays • Retirement planning www.PEAKE.com
