Senior NETA Project ManagerRoles & Responsibilities:The
Senior Project Manager leads assigned electrical testing projects and manages UIS Project Managers. The role oversees project planning, field coordination, safety, quality, schedules, and financial performance while helping the team deliver work consistently across UIS.
Reporting directly to the UIS Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Senior Project Manager works closely with field leadership to align priorities, resources, and client commitments. The role provides the COO with clear reporting on project performance, significant risks, and decisions requiring executive support.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Project Manager Leadership
- Lead, coach, and evaluate UIS Project Managers; set execution standards, balance workloads, and support hiring and onboarding.
- Review team projects for safety, schedule, financial, change order, client, and closeout risks; resolve escalations and improve project management practices.
Project Planning and Execution
- Manage assigned electrical testing projects from handoff through closeout, reviewing scope and contracts and developing schedules and mobilization plans.
- Coordinate qualified field staffing and testing equipment; ensure work meets applicable NETA, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, UIS, and client requirements.
Field and Office Coordination
- Coordinate clients, field teams, Project Managers, and office support; communicate project scope, priorities, expectations, and constraints clearly.
- Use field feedback to adjust plans and resolve staffing, equipment, and other resource conflicts across projects.
Safety Quality and Compliance
- Lead safety planning under NFPA 70E, OSHA, UIS programs, and site requirements; work with Safety and technical leadership on incidents and corrective actions.
- Ensure testing procedures, reports, and client deliverables meet applicable quality standards.
Financial and Schedule Management
- Manage budgets, labor, costs, schedules, and forecasts for assigned projects; review team performance and address variances, scope changes, and margin risks early.
- Oversee change orders and billing; report portfolio forecasts, resource needs, major risks, and corrective actions to the COO.
Client Communication
- Lead client communication on assigned projects and support Project Managers in kickoffs, progress reviews, and issue resolution.
- Address escalated concerns promptly, keep the COO informed, and strengthen client relationships through reliable delivery and follow-through.
Documentation and Closeout
- Ensure timely testing reports and project records, including punch lists, corrective actions, retesting, and final client deliverables.
- Complete final billing, financial reconciliation, and lessons learned; apply findings to improve future project execution.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support company objectives and operational efficiency.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills:
Required:
- 8+ years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, power systems services, or closely related work.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and leading or mentoring Project Managers or other project delivery personnel.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable NETA standards, NFPA 70/70E/70B, and IEEE testing practices.
- Experience managing field technical teams, project schedules, budgets, job costs, and completion forecasts.
- Strong leadership, organizational, client communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage personal project responsibilities while overseeing other Project Managers.
Preferred:
- NETA Level III or IV Certification.
- Electrical engineering or electrical trade background.
- PMP or similar project management certification.
- Experience with ERP, job costing, forecasting, and project management systems.
- Experience with mission-critical or industrial power systems and prior direct supervisory responsibility for Project Managers.
