CNN is looking for a Sr. Product Director, New Businesses. The New Businesses team will be leading the creation of new, standalone products at CNN, and focused on the creation of separate, non-news experiences that can help enrich our users’ lives and drive the subscription business. The ideal candidate is an experienced product leader, who effortlessly collaborates with product, design, engineering, research, editorial and analytics.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Leadership: You will be an integral part of CNN’s New Businesses leadership team, partnering with your design and engineering counterparts to steer the delivery of our non-news and standalone products that will drive CNN’s subscription business. Collectively, we are working to bring product MVPs to market in a timely fashion; then validate product market fit using data and qualitative feedback to assess. For the features and products that succeed, we will continue to iterate and improve to refine the fit. For those that don’t fit, we will either pivot or shut down.

  • Discovery & Delivery: This role is responsible for orchestrating the design, build and evolution of our first wave of new standalone products. This work includes partnering closely with design on the development of new product and feature concepts, as well as the strategy that frames those concepts. You and your team will also lead a coordinated plan for delivery of products and features, working tightly with engineering and design on aggressive but achievable roadmaps.

  • Functional Management: In this role, you will be the product leader for New Business. You will lead a team of product directors and managers, who will be assigned to different initiatives. You are responsible for ensuring the quality of the product work within New Business and coaching the team through the New Development process. You will empower and mentor your product team; foster a cohesive, committed, passionate, productive, and positive environment; champion new ideas, and work towards the highest caliber of craft and a best-in-class experiences within a growing team.

  • CNN-Wide Coordination: You will represent New Business in the broader CNN product organization via discipline rituals and settings (e.g. monthly product reviews) and lead cross-CNN collaborative conversations, when necessary (e.g. homepage integration). You will also partner across the rest of the CNN product organization to manage interdependencies and risks for delivery of New Business initiatives.

  • Culture: You will work with your peers to foster a deep collaborative culture and promote partnership with cross-functional leads and senior leadership. You understand the media landscape, the current headwinds, and the need for innovative thinking an innovative. You will use foster to help create a culture of innovation and help the team push the boundaries of CNN.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • 12+ years of product management experience.

  • Experience delivering new end-to-end product experiences in the media space

  • Experience launching and developing new products and features; comfort with the 0-1 nature of the work; and expertise in how to navigate confidently through ambiguity.

  • Experience in people management, managing a team of 5+ people.

  • Being able to craft concise and customer-centric product requirements and product vision documents while creating a compelling narrative is essential.

  • Strong communicator, who can convey our strategy, roadmap and product plans to the broader CNN community – including digital leadership and peers throughout product org.

  • Understanding of A/B testing methodologies and the ability to use data to inform product decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate and present to stakeholders at all levels of the business.

  • Demonstrate strong ownership to deliver exceptional customer experiences and customer empathy.

  • Experience developing consumer facing experiences across multiple platforms (e.g., web, mobile, newsletters).

  • Experience working with and managing the needs of multiple stakeholders and business teams.

  • Experience driving clarity in ambiguous situations and drive forward progress.

  • Experience with data analysis and driving insights and making business decisions through data.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $217,000.00 - $403,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
