What you'll do:

The Senior Director, Inbound Carrier Management leads the strategy and execution of all domestic and international inbound logistics, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, compliant, and visible movement of goods from suppliers into the network. This role drives transportation optimization aligned with business growth objectives while leading a high-performing team and key cross-functional partnerships.

This position can be based our of Atlanta, GA or Coppell, TX.

  • Develop and execute the inbound transportation strategy to support growth, service, reliability, and cost optimization goals.
  • Oversee the full inbound lifecycle from purchase order issuance through warehouse/DC receipt across ocean, air, rail, truck, intermodal, cross-border, and last-mile modes.
  • Lead carrier and 3PL strategy, including contract negotiation, network design, performance management, and SLA oversight.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction through routing optimization, consolidation, supplier collaboration, analytics, and enhanced visibility.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade, customs, and transportation regulations.
  • Own inbound transportation P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI performance (e.g., cost per unit/TEU, OTIF, dwell time, freight variance, carrier performance).
  • Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, Planning, Operations, Finance, Supplier Management, and IT to align transportation with broader supply chain objectives.
  • Build and develop a high-performing inbound transportation team, setting clear objectives and accountability.
  • Leverage technology and digital transformation initiatives, including TMS and visibility tools (Oracle experience a plus).
  • Lead risk mitigation, business continuity planning, and supplier logistics optimization initiatives.
  • Support sustainability initiatives through improved load utilization, mode optimization, and carbon reduction strategies.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain/transportation leadership experience, including significant inbound logistics responsibility (domestic and international).
  • Demonstrated success managing large transportation budgets, carrier negotiations (ocean, NVOCC, inland, domestic), and high-volume operations.
  • Proven track record of cost savings, process optimization, and performance improvement.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with experience leveraging transportation data and dashboards.
  • Deep knowledge of international logistics, customs compliance, and transportation technologies (TMS, visibility platforms).
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder influence, and change management skills in fast-paced growth environments.

Preferred
  • MBA or MS in Logistics/Supply Chain.
  • Certifications (CSCP, CTP, or similar).
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or inventory-intensive businesses.
  • Background in sustainability and logistics decarbonization initiatives.
