Position Summary
NYU's Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, External Relations, on the Careers team. The selected candidate will set the strategic direction for engaging with employers and the broader market to expand and diversify employment opportunities for MBA students. The Senior Director will lead an integrated External Relations team responsible for executing employer engagement strategies across established and emerging industries, informed by labor-market trends, employer intelligence, student demand, and institutional priorities. They will determine where and how Careers should invest its employer-facing resources to strengthen existing recruiting channels and develop new sources of opportunity. The selected candidate will connect employer and industry engagement with Stern's broader institutional resources and priorities, identifying opportunities to deepen strategically important relationships and address gaps in priority markets. The Senior Director will mobilize Stern's alumni, faculty, experiential learning, student engagement, and other assets to develop broader institutional partnerships that create sustained value for students, employers, and the School. They will also connect market insights, relationships, and activities across Stern to identify gaps and opportunities, coordinate institutional responses, and ensure strategically important external relationships extend beyond individual programs or points of contact.
Qualifications
The selected candidate must have a bachelor's degree and at least ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources, recruiting, executive search, external relations, or entrepreneurial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must have experience with client/relationship management, managing staff, and administering budgets, as well as a proven ability to develop and execute strategy, with strong business development instincts and a track record of building external partnerships that deliver measurable value. Excellent relationship management and communication skills, along with strong analytical and decision-making skills, are required. The candidate must have team leadership and staff development expertise, with the ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing, diverse teams, as well as experience leading through influence across multiple internal stakeholders and functions. Experience designing and implementing multi-year strategies with measurable outcomes is also required.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $110,000.00 to USD $150,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
