- Manage the firmware compile toolchain lifecycle - compiler versions, cross-compilation environments, and dependency management across product lines.
- Responsible for the firmware release process end-to-end: versioning, packaging, sign-off gates, traceability, and release documentation.
- Drive standardization and consolidation of build and release tooling to reduce technical debt and manual overhead.
- Lead root-cause analysis of build/CI failures and drive continuous improvement in pipeline stability and speed.
- Hire, manage, and develop a team of DevOps engineers; set priorities aligned with firmware program schedules.
- Partner with Firmware Engineering, Program Management, and QA to align CI/toolchain/release capabilities with product milestones.
- Report on release health, build reliability, and infrastructure risk to engineering leadership.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or related field; 10+ years in DevOps/build engineering, including 3+ years managing engineers.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems (QuickBuild, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or similar) at scale.
- Strong knowledge of embedded/firmware build systems and cross-compilation toolchains (CMake, Clang, or similar).
- Experience owning a formal software/firmware release process, including versioning and artifact management.
- Scripting proficiency (Python, Bash) and experience with infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of building effective engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with SSD/storage or other embedded firmware in a semiconductor environment.
- Familiarity with artifact repositories and containerized build environments.
- Experience with regulatory/traceability requirements for firmware release sign-off.
