Job Summary
The Senior Developer Workspace Engineer will design, build, and support developer workspaces while improving onboarding, productivity, and developer experience through automation, tooling, and best practices. The role combines software development, developer tooling, end-user technology expertise, and technical advocacy, with a focus on Python and Java development, workspace engineering, CI/CD improvements, desktop provisioning, and developer enablement.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement developer workspaces using physical, virtualized, or browser-based solutions.
• Develop tools and automation primarily using Python and Java.
• Improve CI/CD processes through tooling and automation initiatives.
• Create desktop provisioning and software distribution patterns utilizing SCCM, VDI, or similar technologies.
• Support and drive adoption of developer productivity solutions across engineering teams.
• Partner with collaboration and end-user technology teams to improve developer experiences.
• Ensure solutions adhere to audit, risk, governance, and security requirements.
• Champion best practices and educate developers on tools and standards.
Required Qualifications
• Proven experience in software development and end-user technology support.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and Java development.
• Strong understanding of software design principles and ability to explain technical concepts to other developers.
• Experience influencing teams and driving adoption of technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with container creation, management, and administration.
• Experience with SCCM, VDI, or similar desktop provisioning technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD process improvement and automation.
• Intermediate JavaScript experience.
• Understanding of cloud and on-premises networking concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience integrating AI/ML or Generative AI capabilities into developer workflows.
• Experience with developer productivity tooling and workspace automation.
• Knowledge of audit, risk, and governance practices.
• Experience supporting large enterprise engineering organizations.
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher preferred. Candidates without a bachelor's degree should demonstrate exceptional relevant experience.
